Northumberland, United Kingdom
Ellingham Shoot is run over 5,000 acres of mixed woodland, arable and moorland. We have separate partridge beats with some fantastic views of the Northumbrian coast and Cheviot Hills. The partridge ground is made up of bracken, heather and white ground with over 15 different drives including several where the guns stand in gullies to be tested by very fast birds coming over ridges or hedges. We also have some drives with high birds, in particular the Brockdam Banks and the Wandylaw Hill drives. These two drives often have a ratio of 8/1 while our other drives are usually 5/1. The pheasant drives are a mix of game cover and woods, some of which give some excellent sport throughout the season. We have mixed pheasant, partridge and duck drives. The majority of our days are 200+driven partridge, pheasant and duck but we also run small boundary days at very good rates for 50+ bird days which might suit smaller parties. We have nearly 50 different drives and have the scope to offer sport to suit novice and experienced guns alike. Ellingham is a popular shoot with many regular guns and a great atmosphere. We welcome parties of up to 10 guns and can arrange breakfast, lunch and evening meals. The meeting place is The Packhorse Inn, a country pub in the village of Ellingham which offers food and accommodation. For guns travelling from further afield the area offers a wide range of suitable shoot-friendly hotels. This is a lovely part of north Northumberland.
