Weeton Shoot

Lancashire, United Kingdom

Weeton Shoot is in its twentieth season of being run by John, family and neighbours , whose sole objective is to make sure all the guns have a great day.  In the early 1800’s Thomas Miller (a wealthy local cotton mill owner) bought a 3,000 acre estate and remolded it into one of the best shooting estates in West Lancashire.  He planted woodlands on the higher ground to make best use of the undulating countryside and to show all the birds off to their best advantage.  Weeton Shoot covers 400 acres which include most of the best drives he created, plus a few recent additions of our own.  The new additions revolve around presenting red leg partridge from cover crops off the highest bankings and making good use of the prevailing westerly winds which we are seldom without.  The Shoot has over 45 acres of woodland, 10 large ponds and 60 acres of cover crop.  It has 15 different drives and the bag consists of Polish cross pheasants, red leg partridges and ducks including wild teal and snipe. It runs 20 shoots a year including a "Black Powder" Day which is sponsored by the Black Powder Gin Company situated on the same estate. An excellent lunch is provided in the old gun room, including exclusive use of the adjacent Black Powder Spirits Bar. Black powder make over 30 gins (including a world champion Navy strength) Severed Hand rums and Glorious 12th Whiskey.and we also serve the very good local Farmyard Ales. We have a great team of family and regular support staff who mix with the guns all day and help in any way they can, however, you are welcome to bring your own (well trained) gun dog if you wish.  This shoot is our winter hobby and it is run purely for family enjoyment.  It is specifically designed to be enjoyable and not necessarily commercial (we all have other jobs – farming).  The price of £600 guarantees 150 bird minimum – there is no overage.  We shoot 10-12 guns as this best suits our drives. The day starts at 9.30 am with coffee and breakfast barm and description of the day’s itinerary.  The first drive is 10.00 am.  Transport is provided all day (right to your peg if needed).  We do 2-3 drives in the morning;  we then break for a four course lunch followed by the remaining drives to a total of 4 or 5 before returning to the old gin room for the sweep results. Guns can take as much shot game home as they wish. (Safe and insured guns only please) The dates available are shown, but other dates may be available on request.

Whitewell Shoot

Lancashire, United Kingdom

For over three decades the Whitwell Shoot has been a beacon of tradition and natural beauty. Nestled in the heart of the Ribble Valley, within the enchanting Forest of Bowland, our shoot offers an unparalleled escape into splendid isolation. Here amidst the rolling hills and verdant landscapes, the day to day fades into the serene tranquillity of the valley. The backbone of the shoot is very much the original syndicate that have been together for years, providing a familiarity but welcoming approach to those that want to shoot regularly or those that just want a one off experience. Our gatherings commence at the Inn at Whitewell, an award winning 16th Century former coaching inn, majestically perched above the River Hodder. Its rooms, which are available at additional cost for guns and their guests, provide breath taking views of the open countryside, where the distant fells and undulating hills meet the sky. Full catering is provided with breakfast and shoot lunch (late) at the Inn at Whitwell and elevenses served in the field. Open to single or multiple guns or full let days we aim to ensure a great day's shooting is had by all.

Arley Shoot

Cheshire, United Kingdom

Arley Hall has been a great sporting estate for centuries and there has been organised game shooting here since the1920's. Traditional driven Pheasant shooting is our main quarry with days of varying sizes available. Surprisingly challenging birds are shown here at Arley which are produced from meticulously planned and sited game crops. Due to the forethought and judgement of past generations, the planting of the woodland makes maximum use of the topography to provide some exciting woodland drives. There is some very high quality driven duck shooting to be had too, taken early on in the season. Some evening duck flighting can also be taken. All in all the Arley sporting estate produces some very good shooting tucked away in a beautiful setting in the north west of England very easily accessible from the M6 J19 or M56 J10. Whilst there is great attention to detail, the shoot has a great friendly atmosphere. Bespoke hospitality is provided Arley Moss Farm, one of the estate farmhouses or at the Hall itself. Simulated Game Shooting Exciting sport can also be had throughout the year with our simulated game shooting. This is in the form of clays shown in a driven form, simulating pheasants or partridge. Teams of guns, whom otherwise may not see each other from one gameshooting season to another, can get together during the out of season summer months. They can enjoy a great days shooting brushing up their skills and catching up with friends at the same time and enjoying the hospitality. A day or half day course is also available for those who are complete novices and new to the sport and want to learn about shooting, covering safety and technique.
