For over three decades the Whitwell Shoot has been a beacon of tradition and natural beauty. Nestled in the heart of the Ribble Valley, within the enchanting Forest of Bowland, our shoot offers an unparalleled escape into splendid isolation. Here amidst the rolling hills and verdant landscapes, the day to day fades into the serene tranquillity of the valley.
The backbone of the shoot is very much the original syndicate that have been together for years, providing a familiarity but welcoming approach to those that want to shoot regularly or those that just want a one off experience.
Our gatherings commence at the Inn at Whitewell, an award winning 16th Century former coaching inn, majestically perched above the River Hodder. Its rooms, which are available at additional cost for guns and their guests, provide breath taking views of the open countryside, where the distant fells and undulating hills meet the sky.
Full catering is provided with breakfast and shoot lunch (late) at the Inn at Whitwell and elevenses served in the field.
Open to single or multiple guns or full let days we aim to ensure a great day's shooting is had by all.
Topography
The topography of Whitewell is hard to beat. The Whitewell Estate (6000 acres) is owned by the Duchy of Lancaster and sits within the confines of the Forest of Bowland which is an area of outstanding natural beauty. Natural elevations range from 92m to 383m which gives a fantastic range of shooting. We also have four drives situated along the forest lined banks of the River Hodder which make for challenging but spectacular birds.
About the hosts
Neil Jones, the head keeper, has been running the shoot for over thirty years and brings a vast amount of experience which ensures that the guns have an enjoyable day with both challenging shooting but also great quality catering and entertainment.

Great day out in some beautiful countryside. Great hosts and group of people. The Ducks just kept on coming! Close to the Inn at Whitewell for a pint or two afterwards.
