Shoot Captain Phil Burtt and his experienced team share a passion in making Belvoir one of the best shooting estates in the UK. There are many exciting drives to choose from on the 16,000 acre Belvoir Estate. No two drives are the same. Different locations, scenery, topography, wind and the natural instinct of the birds makes each and every drive a new experience. The success of the Belvoir shoot lies in the management and team work of all involved, from the early planning stages, through to the day itself. The team work extremely hard to provide a truly memorable experience with first class hospitality in the most wonderful surroundings of the castle and shoot lodge with perfect places to take the all important elevenses such as "Frog Hollow" a beautiful spot with views of the Lakes. Shooting at Belvoir Castle we have over 60 drives on the Estate, all of which are used according to weather, bag target, experience of guns etc. Your shoot day will usually consist of four or five drives, with refreshment breaks during the day and late lunch at the end of the day when shooting finishes. Generally, the minimum bag target for a Castle shoot would be 250 birds or over per day, although you can of course choose to shoot a bigger bag. The price for shooting includes the birds, all refreshments on the shoot day and transport around the shoot if required. **Simulated Clays** We can also arrange simulated clay pigeon days on the estate using the very latest clay traps together with the topography of the Estate for maximum variety and realism. Days take place outside of the shooting season and offer teams of guns the opportunity to enjoy the excitement of a real day's shooting in the summer months as they prepare for the season ahead. The GWCT shoot at The Allerton Project is a small driven shoot guided by the principles of GWCT research over the past 100 years, offering fantastic shooting in rolling Leicestershire countryside. Management for shooting and farmland wildlife are intrinsically interlinked, and GWCT research demonstrates the direct positive impact on wildlife, gamebird health and the environmental benefits of a well run shoot. Following best practice guidelines and a core aim of sustainability, the shoot has evolved from a wild bird only shoot during the earlier years, through to the small released driven shoot we have today. We aim to shoot around 13 days, with the over-riding focus being on high quality birds, a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and an overall good day out ... with a bit of learning thrown in now and then!
