Pigeon shooting in South West

Pigeon shooting in South West

The pigeon does not have a shooting season. The wood pigeon is actually classed as vermin but regarded as one of the countries finest sporting birds.

About pigeon shooting in south west

Known to many as the 'grey grouse', the wood pigeon is usually shot in one of two forms - pigeon flighting or roost shooting. Flighting involves decoying pigeons into a pattern on a field of crop, using fieldcraft or existing 'flight lines'. Providers on GunsOnPegs will often set up hides and decoys for you unless it says DIY. Roost shooting takes place in woods and is more common in winter months.

Charlton Park Shoot

Wiltshire, United Kingdom

Traditional Estate Steeped in History surrounding the local area of Malmesbury, in the Cotswolds, the current home of the 22nd Earl of Suffolk, 15th Earl of Berkshire. Using the natural landscape and extensive woodland, some of the Cotswolds sporting pheasants and partridges are available, across 12 drives. Novice and experienced guns, together with their dogs are all welcome. We have days available for both full teams and individual pegs. Honeycombe Shoot

Dorset, United Kingdom

HONEYCOMBE SHOOT - SHERBORNE - DORSET The Honeycombe Shoot covers nearly 4,000 acres of the beautiful Sherborne Castle Estate in Dorset. Mike and Antonia are now in their eighteenth year of running the Honeycombe Shoot as their own business having been at Honeycombe for 26 seasons.  Like most people who run their own business they have worked very hard to establish Honeycombe Shoot and build up its excellent reputation that it has today, as being a classic Dorset shoot. In 2020 awarded Runners Up in the Nations Favourite Shoot Guns on Pegs Awards Our main driven days of 200-250 bird days are predominantly driven pheasant and partridge  showing fantastic birds in spectacular surroundings.  Meet in the gun room at Honeycombe Wood for coffee and pastries, plenty of elevenses of smoked salmon canapes, sliced loin of Honeycombe venison, home grown sausages and homemade soup and plenty of fizz and pink! Guns are transported around in our gun trailer throughout the day and are returned to the gun room for tea where their guns are cleaned and a brace of “oven ready” birds are provided on departure. WALKED UP/MINI DRIVEN SHOOTING SEPTEMBER & OCTOBER and NOVEMBER & DECEMBER Throughout the shooting season we host traditional walked up/mini driven Partridge days for 7-10 guns shooting  100 + bird days. Early season shooting in cover crops and woods over pointers and later on in other areas of the estate for example, along the river and also down on the westside of the estate in Whitfield woods. We also incorporate a mini drive or two during the day. These days proved very popular, shooting French and English partridges, pheasants and we even had woodcock and snipe later in the season giving good varied bags and some exciting shooting! These days are ideal for small teams of friends or individual guns who like a really relaxed days shooting.    Meeting in the gun room for coffee and pastries, stopping for elevenses which we will lay on return to the gun room for tea at the end of the day and go home with a brace of birds, a great day out watching pointers lock on point!     These days are affordable and are being held from September onwards throughout the shooting season running alongside our main driven days. Our aim is to provide a great days shooting no matter what type of day you book. If you are looking for a smaller or larger day than listed or if the dates listed are not suitable - please do ask - as we may still be able to accommodate you - it is your day and we will try and tailor the day to suit you! Please read our testimonials! THE HONEYCOMBE STALKING CLUB 2026 The Honeycombe Stalking Club has a vacancy for 2026 and would suit someone who is just getting into stalking who is wanting to gain more experience out in the field in all aspects of stalking deer, ie rifle skills, deer identification, management, field craft and the actual stalk and gralloch.
