HONEYCOMBE SHOOT - SHERBORNE - DORSET

The Honeycombe Shoot covers nearly 4,000 acres of the beautiful Sherborne Castle Estate in Dorset. Mike and Antonia are now in their eighteenth year of running the Honeycombe Shoot as their own business having been at Honeycombe for 26 seasons.  Like most people who run their own business they have worked very hard to establish Honeycombe Shoot and build up its excellent reputation that it has today, as being a classic Dorset shoot. In 2020 awarded Runners Up in the Nations Favourite Shoot Guns on Pegs Awards

Our main driven days of 200-250 bird days are predominantly driven pheasant and partridge  showing fantastic birds in spectacular surroundings.  Meet in the gun room at Honeycombe Wood for coffee and pastries, plenty of elevenses of smoked salmon canapes, sliced loin of Honeycombe venison, home grown sausages and homemade soup and plenty of fizz and pink! Guns are transported around in our gun trailer throughout the day and are returned to the gun room for tea where their guns are cleaned and a brace of “oven ready” birds are provided on departure.

WALKED UP/MINI DRIVEN SHOOTING SEPTEMBER & OCTOBER and NOVEMBER & DECEMBER Throughout the shooting season we host traditional walked up/mini driven Partridge days for 7-10 guns shooting  100 + bird days. Early season shooting in cover crops and woods over pointers and later on in other areas of the estate for example, along the river and also down on the westside of the estate in Whitfield woods. We also incorporate a mini drive or two during the day. These days proved very popular, shooting French and English partridges, pheasants and we even had woodcock and snipe later in the season giving good varied bags and some exciting shooting! These days are ideal for small teams of friends or individual guns who like a really relaxed days shooting.    Meeting in the gun room for coffee and pastries, stopping for elevenses which we will lay on return to the gun room for tea at the end of the day and go home with a brace of birds, a great day out watching pointers lock on point!

These days are affordable and are being held from September onwards throughout the shooting season running alongside our main driven days.

Our aim is to provide a great days shooting no matter what type of day you book. If you are looking for a smaller or larger day than listed or if the dates listed are not suitable - please do ask - as we may still be able to accommodate you - it is your day and we will try and tailor the day to suit you! Please read our testimonials!

THE HONEYCOMBE STALKING CLUB 2026

The Honeycombe Stalking Club has a vacancy for 2026 and would suit someone who is just getting into stalking who is wanting to gain more experience out in the field in all aspects of stalking deer, ie rifle skills, deer identification, management, field craft and the actual stalk and gralloch.

Ultimately the Club is set up to maintain a healthy and acceptable population of deer on the Honeycombe Estate with a maximum of six members within the Club, the opportunity will be given to stalk on this beautiful 4,000 acre Honeycombe estate.

Mr. Alan Reynolds

I have had another fantastic year at Honeycombe from Driven Days to Mini Driven Days and a large driven day i took for work colleagues. Everyday has been fantastic. Right from the welcome you realise this is a well run, friendly and inclusive shoot. The Elevenses are fantastic with lovely and plentiful food and drink offered in lovely settings. The quality and volume of the birds shown has always been superb. Also a special mention to the way Mike and Antonia involve everyone in the day, the beaters, picker ups and helpers are really friendly, a great team. I highly recommend Honeycombe for a days shooting, the hardest thing to decide will be what type of day to choose as there is great variety from small mini driven days to larger formal driven days and walked up. A great Shoot in stunning scenery with fantastic hosts with Mike, Antonia and the team. I have already booked a Driven day for 2026-2027 season.,

Mr. Edward Guy Fowell Buxton

Antonia and Mike and all the other shoot staff kept my spirits up for the whole day in the inclement conditions. The birds flew very well in the very wet and windy weather and I very much enjoyed the company of the other guns, none of whom I had met previously.

Booked a walked up day as a single gun, Mike, Antonia and team were so welcoming and put me at ease immediately. Fantastic show of birds, both French and English. Excellent hosts, very enjoyable and already booked in for a mini driven day.

Mr. Ian Booth

Another super day with Mike, Antonia and the team. Plenty of birds and great fun engaging with the dogs and the handlers. This is such a great shoot - friendly, fairly informal but incredibly well run and excellent birds. I've been coming for 9 years and it's never disappointed. Will be back next season! The hospitality is just right for me - food in the field (cheese, sausages, venison, plenty of bubbles and port etc). Pastries and drinks on arrival and crumpets, cake etc in the gun room afterwards. Perfect day.....
