Shooting across approximately 4,000 acres, the estate offers 24 carefully designed drives, including three signature drives renowned for producing memorable birds. Pheasant and partridge are presented in equal measure, flying strong and honestly over rolling ground. Birds spread naturally along the line, ensuring fair and engaging sport for Guns of all abilities. Adding further variety, Ellington regularly offers classic wildfowling and rough shooting, with duck, teal, goose and snipe often featuring. Ten species on the game card in a single day is not unusual, creating a richly traditional and highly rewarding shooting experience.

Located on the eastern edge of the Northumberland National Park, the Estate benefits from a variety of deep gills, mature woodlands and sloping topography, which enables the presentation of exceptional quality pheasants and partridges. The birds are capable of challenging the very best of teams. The Estate is also able to offer a variety of walked up and mini driven shooting, which can either be taken in combination with a driven day, or as a standalone booking. DRIVEN SHOOTING The 2,800 acre low ground shoot comprises 12 main drives, ranging from moorland edge partridges on drives such as the renowned “Railway” to tall pheasants climbing high over teams stood in the river gill below on the “Stepping Stones” drive, which is now a firm favourite amongst teams of guns. On arrival at the Estate, teams will meet at the Estate’s shoot room. Situated on the moorland edge, the shoot room overlooks the picturesque Lordenshaws valley, and is equipped with a large dining table and roaring wood burner, making it the ideal location for hosting teams throughout the season. Guests will be greeted with tea, coffee and bacon rolls on their arrival and once all members of the shooting party have arrived, the Estate host will give a detailed safety briefing before leading off for the days shooting. Days on the Estate usually consist of four or five drives, which are best suited to a team of eight guns (nine can be accommodated if required). A substantial elevenses break is usually taken in the field after the second drive, with lunch being served at the shoot room either during or at the end of the day. The exact arrangements and timings for the day can be tailored to suit the guns requirements. Driven Days are available throughout the season with target bags ranging from 120-250 birds per day, at a cost of £47.50 plus VAT per bird, which includes full hospitality for the guns. MINI DRIVEN / WALKED UP SHOOTING In addition to the driven offering at Lordenshaws, a selection of smaller mini driven/ walked up days are also available, with the focus of these being on some of the hedgerows and spinneys which lie slightly further out from the heart of the shoot. Guns will find themselves shooting a combination of walked up birds, flushing from cover as the team walks the ground, and driven birds, where guns will be strategically placed whilst areas of thicker cover are pushed out to the guns. These days often provide some of the most rewarding sport, given the variety of game on offer, and also allows the guns to see much more of the Estate, enabling them to enjoy the full splendour of their surroundings. Bags on these days often include a combination of pheasant, partridge, duck, pigeon, snipe, woodcock and rabbit. Whilst the Estate’s shoot room and facilities are available to the guests throughout the day, teams are to provide their own catering. Mini Driven/Walked Up Days are available throughout the season with target bags of 40-60 birds per day, at the cost of £37.50 plus VAT per bird. The shooting at North Stainley estate stretches from North Stainley near Ripon to Grewelthorpe near Masham, with topography ranging from flat mixed arable lands and pastures to rolling hills, steep quarry faces and high game crop topped valleys. The shoot has seen major investment over the last decade, creating a spectacular private shoot where there has been only one aim, to provide memorable shooting in the most attractive surroundings with superlative hospitality. The estate is constantly investing in large scale improvements, such as woodland planting, game crop expansion, access track construction and further land acquisition. The North Stainley end of the estate concentrates on providing smaller mixed walked up days and wild fowling, while the driven days occur mostly at the Mickley end of the estate, one of the most picturesque and quintessential parts of North Yorkshire. Although driven Pheasants are the primary game bird, the shoots also release French and English Partridge as well as Mallard which help boost our evening flight ponds. Most of the drives have been designed to allow very little travelling distance between them, and many you are able to walk from one to the other. We are also members of the Trusted Game scheme.

The Middleton Tyas Shoot based in Richmond, North Yorkshire is a family low ground shoot developed over the last 40 years. The shooting takes place across arable and grass farmland with birds shown from plantations designed for shooting with the help of the GWCT. We are thrilled to be able to open up the family shoot to one visiting team per year and there is an opportunity for you to join us on one of our days. A typical day would consist of 6 drives with a wildfowl drive to start with producing many truly wild birds - wild mallard and teal. The remaining 5 drives will be predominantly pheasnts. Although we do have some wild greys on the farm, we will only shoot these if we have a successful breeding season.

We have a great team of beaters and pickers up to ensure you have a great day.  Brantingham shoot, Brough north cave.  The shoot lies to the west of the A63 exit at the south cave junction then head towords Brough the shoot  is about 2 miles passed the round about on the right.  The estate land heads towards the river Humber We offer duck, pheasant and partridge shooting over 300 acres with 4 ponds and 10 pheasants and partridge drives. Pheasant and partridge are shot over cover crops and a small shelter belts. 3 large woods, which belts high birds on some parts of the shoot, Over 500 ducks,1500 pheasants and 400 partridges have been released. We are a family run shoot and can cater for full teams or individual guns to join our friendly syndicate.  Our syndicate is built upon farmer and good friends looking for a enjoyable day we shoot upto 8 days thought out the season on the best drive. We do not rush to try and fit as meany drives in as we can. We like to stop for refreshments in the morning and I nice driner brake todiscus the drives and the drives we would like to do next.  Full days are available from October onward.
