Nestled in the beautiful wooded valleys above Cardigan Bay, Monachty is a traditional family-run pheasant shoot on a 1,500-acre private estate near the picturesque harbour town of Aberaeron, West Wales. Re-established by Nigel and Wendy Symons Jones in 1979, the shoot is now run by Henry and Tina Symons Jones, who continue to focus on providing exactly the sort of day they would want to enjoy themselves—challenging birds, relaxed atmosphere and plenty of laughter along the way. Our aim is simple: good birds, good company and an enjoyable day in the Welsh countryside. We cater primarily for teams of eight or nine guns, with bag sizes ranging from 150 to 350 birds, allowing us to tailor the day to suit your team. Many of our visiting teams choose to stay in nearby Aberaeron, just a few minutes from the shoot, where excellent places to stay and eat include The Harbourmaster, Ty Glyn and Y Seler, making it easy to turn a day’s shooting into a long weekend with family or friends. If you’re considering Monachty for the first time, we’d be delighted to welcome you for a look around the shoot before booking. We’re always happy to show prospective teams around the estate and talk through how we run the day. Whether you’re joining us for the first time or returning for another season, we look forward to welcoming you to Monachty. Our ambition has never been to run the biggest shoot—only one that people genuinely enjoy returning to year after year.
