Partridge shooting in Northern Ireland

Partridge shooting in Northern Ireland

The partridge shooting season runs from 1st September to 1st February. The partridges most commonly shot across Europe are red-legged partridges, otherwise known as french partridges.

About partridge shooting in northern ireland

Driven partridge shooting over stubble fields in September offers some of the most fantastic sport available. Although you'll rarely find days of English partridge shooting, the french partridge has provided a very reliable alternative. Many shoots across the UK will shoot partridge throughout the season and many bags after October will consist of both pheasant and partridge.

Alderwood Shoot

Fermanagh, United Kingdom

Alderwood is probably the newest shoot in N. Ireland but it is anticipated to become a jewel in the crown within the next few years. The unique selling point is the topography of the ground extending to some 8,000 acres of shooting rights. Partridges are all flushed from heights to make full use of the terrain in presenting sporting birds. Drives are predominately moorland, hardwoods and some exciting lowland river valleys. Totally unique settings. Bags can be tailored for individual parties and vary between 150/300. Teams are usually 8 but there is a facility to shoot 10 without the feeling of being tight/cramped. Full teams to single guns or mixture in between are available. The shoot focuses on the quality of the birds it presents obtained by the clever use of the ground. All days are solely partridge. Fibre wadded cartridges only. The shoot has been set up with an emphasis of presenting the birds in as sporting manner as possible, in a relaxed atmosphere with a realistic price structure. The shoot is approximately 90 minutes from Belfast or similar from Dublin. There is a mixture of accommodation available locally all with excellent facilities, 5* Lough Erne resort is only 10 minutes away. A warm Irish welcome awaits everyone.

Co Armagh, United Kingdom

Outstanding driven duck shooting in Northern Ireland, these ducks are driven and not just circling around a pond, offering exceptional sport and at an outstanding price. The estate has enough drives to shoot back to back days without repeating drives form the first day's shooting, with all drives offering Guns the chance to shoot extremely high ducks. This season there will also be pheasant and some partridges in the drives offering extremely sporting and exciting shooting. The ducks are driven from high banks and flighted back to ponds a considerable distance from the Gun line, this means that Guns are shown very high birds which only pass over once rather than circling constantly overhead. **It is still permitted to use lead shot on this estate.** Airport transfers can be arranged as can all relevant licenses and permits .
