Gordon Castle offers pheasant shooting in the Spey River Valley in Moray, North East Scotland. The shoot will cater for driven days, partly driven and totally wild days. Driven days will see bags of 150 birds. Partly Driven days will see bags of 80. Totally Wild days will see a bag of 30-50 birds which could include pheasant, duck, woodcock and pigeon.

Altyre estate is a sleeping giant, steeped in the history of the Gordon Cumming family, lying on the outskirts of Forres in the county of Moray. The last five years has seen the 12,000 acre estate grow from a small family shoot of one hundred bird days to a shoot that can accommodate up to 300 bird days with 2013/14 seeing an overall bag for the season of 5000 birds. The gullies and woodlands of Altyre estate offer a varied terrain where you can enjoy a unique days sport. You are rewarded with the challenge of high flying quality birds. Feature drives include Daisies, Bruntlands, The Burn, The Ruins, Squirrel Wood and Situation Point. The day begins in the club room where you are greeted by the laird, Sir Alastair Gordon Cumming and his team. Peg numbers are drawn, followed by a quick safety talk and then on to the first drive. There are three drives before lunch and one drive in the afternoon. A homemade lunch is provided as part of the day. At the end of the last drive it is back to the club room where the bag is counted and everyone can reflect on their excellent days shooting on an old highland estate. The shoot caters for corporate parties, private roving syndicates, small parties and individual guns. Inverness airport is within 30 minutes away. Top class accommodation within easy reach.

Innes Estate sits on the Moray coastline in the ley of the Cairngorms to the south and the Black Isle to the north. We are a lowland shoot covering around 5000 acres. The drives vary from tight woodland rides to open fields and game covers. We aim to provide a 150 bird mixed bag of pheasant, partridge, woodcock and snipe and when the weather is right goose and duck flighting in the morning or evening. We can shoot two consecutive days without touching the same ground and also provide walked up shooting as a standalone or as an add on to the driven day. Lunch is provided for all guns in the per bird price and charged at extra for non guns. Accommodation can be provided at Innes House which is Scottish baronial mansion based in the centre of the estate.

Mayen Woods, on the hillside to the West of Mayen House, rise from the river to 65 metres above sea level at Spur Wood and to 285 meters above sea level at Gallow Hill. The landscape was awarded the Alistair J Lilburn of Coull trophy for Scotland’s Finest Woodlands; presented by the Royal Highland and Agricultural Society. The woodland integrates seamlessly with the surrounding farmland, including individual parkland trees, riparian woodland and hedges which combine to provide a landscape pattern and a framework for habitats. Your day includes up to 6 drives selected by the keeper from 16 opportunities. Bird numbers are expected to be in the region of 200 birds on the day. You will experience a very memorable day with exceptional catering and warm hospitality including breakfast rolls, elevenses, full lunch or dinner and refreshments.

Once part of Gordonstoun Estate, it was sold to the family in 1964. Shooting on the grounds has been happening for 50 years and the game conservancy laid out the Shempston Shoot over 30 years ago. Our keeper, Mr David Barrowman is experienced and eager to please. This season we are pleased to offer 4 driven days (12th November, 3rd December, 22nd December and 19th January). We are situated 36 miles from Inverness and 65 miles from Aberdeen (nearest airports). It is a low ground shoot offering all quarry species to the decerning gun.
