Innes Estate sits on the Moray coastline in the ley of the Cairngorms to the south and the Black Isle to the north. We are a lowland shoot covering around 5000 acres. The drives vary from tight woodland rides to open fields and game covers. We aim to provide a 150 bird mixed bag of pheasant, partridge, woodcock and snipe and when the weather is right goose and duck flighting in the morning or evening. We can shoot two consecutive days without touching the same ground and also provide walked up shooting as a standalone or as an add on to the driven day. Lunch is provided for all guns in the per bird price and charged at extra for non guns.
Accommodation can be provided at Innes House which is Scottish baronial mansion based in the centre of the estate.
Hospitality
Innes House sleeps up to 30 people in 16 ensuite bedrooms. Roaring fires in the Library, Drawing room and Dining room ensure a cozy stay. Lunch is served in our main ballroom and can either be in the middle of the day or at the end if shooting through. The well renowned game chef Tim Maddams also lives on the estate and is happy to cater for shooting weekends with a foodie twist.
Topography
Predominantly low lying farm land with rises and falls providing excellent sport. Well developed woodlands and banks throughout the estate show some spectacular birds. Various ponds and canals also ensure great wild fowling.
Conservation Efforts
We have been steadily re-planting all the hedgerows across the estate in an effort to increase the song bird variety and boost the grey partridge population. In the last 4 years we have gone from just 1 covey to 10 in the centre of the estate and the hedgerow flora and fauna have significantly increased. We have a further 4 km of hedgerows planned this coming year.
We have joined with 8 other farmers in the local area to create a cluster farm focused on biodiversity, when complete this will give 14 kms of wildlife corridor along the banks of the River lossie and the canal network which will result in a large increase in the wildfowl in the area.
About the hosts
Edward and Zoe Tennant are the 5th generation of the Tennant family to own and run Innes having taken over from Edwards father in 2018. They are passionate about shooting and everything it brings to the countryside and its massive conservational benefits. They very much like to keep a family feel to the shooting weekends as the shoot is predominantly private.
