The day will be run by the syndicate members and our full time keeper, with a full team of beaters. Guns are very welcome to bring dogs, guests and picker uppers should they want. Top Farm Shoot is a young syndicate set in the Cheshire plains, set over 500 acres of grassland with a mixture of woodland, large hedgerows and ponds it provides a wide variety of game as well as challenging birds. The shoot is coming up on its 5th year and things have never looked better with the 2012 - 2013 season seeing its best returns things are only set to improve. Shoot days begin with meeting at the farm for a tea or coffee and to draw peg numbers, from here all guns walk to the first drive which is often one of the excellant duck ponds on the shoot. From here everyone will walk around the shoot ranging from woodland and hedges to ponds covered in wild mallard and teal as well as reed ponds covered in snipe. A day will usuallt consist of 6 to 8 drives with some being walked up, some driven and other stand one and shoot one. Shoots carry through lunch and usually finish around 2pm,from here many of the guns head to the local pub for lunch having taken a brace or more of birds. Being set in the Cheshire plains the land which we shoot on is very flat and easy to walk about as there is not transport on this shoot, however it still provides some challening birds to shoot at. The ground is also heavy clay which results in flooding and wet areas during winter which results in large numbers of wild duck and snipe as well as geese. There are 4 main woods on the shoot as well as 3 spinnys which with recent management are holding the released pheasant superbly. There are currently 2 pond recently dug out which hold the reared mallard which provide amazingly high birds, the shoot is currently looking at other ponds to dig out too. All members of this shoot are extremly friendly and a great laugh to be with, however as any shoot should we take safety very serious and will not hesitate to warn guns if they are being un safe or in severe cases remove them from the shoot day.
