Transport around the Estate

Location

Wirral Shoot is located around the picturesque villages of Brimstage and Thornton Hough on the Wirral peninsula, shooting on the historic Leverhulme sporting estate that was once owned by Lord Leverhulme of Unilever.

With easy access to both Liverpool and Manchester airport (40 mins by car) and only 5 minutes drive from the M53 (Junction 4), the Wirral Shoot is the ideal location for both national and international shooters.

Accommodation

We can recommend several local hotels and B&Bs if you wish to stay over and explore the local area.

Hospitality

With our own fully equipped and catered shoot lodge, we are able to tailor hospitality packages to suit individual needs. As far as possible we use locally sourced ingredients and produce and always try to include game on our menu.

Topography

Carefully managed woodland, ponds and cover crops allow us to deliver fantastic mixed bird drives across the estate. We also have several dedicated flighting ponds for duck drives. Walking to peg from the gun bus is straightforward with little difficulty underfoot.

About the hosts

Tom is a fourth generation gamekeeper; his great grandfather was previously head keeper on the Leverhulme Estate. He is passionate about the welfare and management of the birds and wildlife and maintaining the tradition of shooting on this historical estate. With a dedicated and highly experienced team of beaters and pickers up, the Wirral Shoot always provides a warm welcome, excellent hospitality and lots of quality shooting. Wirral Shoot is owned and ran by Shotwick Shooting.

A friend and I had a great day here. Tom and the team put on a splendid day with great hospitality, some challenging birds (stratospheric ducks included) and a set of regular guns who made us feel very welcome. Will try and get another day here soon.

This was a small let day which had been moved because of covid. The administration was excellent and the shoot took real care to follow covid guidance. The guns were a friendly bunch who welcomed two strangers. The beating and picking up team were well organised and the gamekeeper and shoot captain knew their ground and their birds. The end result was an excellent day which met all expectations: highly recommended.
