Pakenham Sporting has three shoots under management, all of which are located just a few miles from the beautiful and historic market town of Bury St Edmunds in West Suffolk. The shoots are set amongst 3000 acres of rolling Suffolk countryside dotted with small woods and undulations. We like to think that whether your preference is for partridges bursting over high hedges, tall pheasants flying back to wood from covers or snap shooting over tall trees, we have something to please all guns.
We pride ourselves on running a traditional shoot and we provide high standards in both sport and safety and we expect the same from our teams of guns.
Coffee, drinks and a good lunch with wine are all included in the day and you can choose between a field lunch or a hot lunch in our comfortable shoot lodge, either in the middle of the day or, if you prefer, you can shoot through and eat afterwards.
We are more than happy to show prospective clients around the shoot out of season and can recommend or arrange good local accommodation for your team if required. The days shooting will be confirmed on payment of a deposit followed by payment in full on the day. We allow and expect a 10% tolerance on numbers of birds shot and allow a ratio of 3:1 in case of a shortfall on any given day. On a 200 bird day we would expect a team of guns to shoot between 180-220 birds without overage. Likewise if a team has had more than 3:1 shots (more than 600 shots on a 200 bird day) then it cannot be said that a team has not had the shooting and therefore would be expected to be paid in full. That said, from past experience you will shoot the bag, have an enjoyable sporting day and a great lunch, so leave the worrying to us!
We can offer days of between 150-350 birds from 1st October onwards subject to availability.

Topography
We currently have in excess of 20 drives situated in 3,000 acres of rolling suffolk countryside, with everything from traditional parkland to open arable fields.
About the hosts
Ben has been hosting shoots both in suffolk and in Wales for more than 20 years and is there to make sure your day exceeds your expectations. The aim is to always provide a fun and relaxed day of good quality sport for you and your team. Whether it's a 100 bird boundary day or a big double gun day we will always give a little extra to make your day special.

A truly excellent experience from all angles. The Gamekeeper Gary and his wife and boss Jo, could not have done more to make it such an enjoyable and productive day. The whole team make all guests very welcome and the game is very well presented with plenty of opportunity to 'get your eye in' due to the steady and prolonged supply of birds. Despite a very still and sunny day, the quality of birds was as good as you will see on any top quality shoot. The food and facilities are also hard to match. An amazing experience. I strongly recommend Kentchurch.

Absolutely Outstanding Day!! We wasn't entirely sure if the day was going to go ahead due the mass of snow that fell the day previous, but we eventually got the green light and went ahead. The gamekeeper and his team of beaters worked really hard to give us a wonderful day, especially with the amount of snow (2ft at times) that we encountered. Everyone on this shoot made us feel welcome which was lovely. We also had a photographer with us and she managed to capture some amazing pictures, and what with the already beautiful landscape the snow really added to the euphoric scenery. We had a great day here in Gary and Jo's 1st year. Hospitality was 1st class . We met in the beautiful house for coffee and finished off here with a very good meal. In between we had some fantastic sport, even on a still day. The terrain lends itself to great sport. The day was very relaxed. The scenery was spectacular. Gary and Jo are going to get a lot of happy repeat customers to this shoot!
