Kentchurch Court Estate is a 5,000 acre estate, where sporting enthusiasts have enjoyed driven pheasant and partridge shooting for nearly four decades. Situated in the Monnow Valley, on the Herefordshire/Monmouthshire border, the topography of the estate, with rolling countryside and traditional mature woodland, lends itself to presenting some of the highest birds in the region, guaranteed to challenge even the most discerning shots.

The normal daily bag is between 200 - 500 birds, or tailor made days can be arranged. Both pheasant and partridge are released with the occasional wild duck.

Kentchurch Court is approximately 15 miles from the end of the M50 motorway which gives access to the M5 north and south. It is approximately 12 miles from the A40 giving access to the M4 at Newport to Bristol and Cardiff.

Hospitality

Alongside high quality shooting, the guns can enjoy staying at Kentchurch Court; the ancestral home of the Lucas-Scudamore family since the 14th Century. The Court offers a unique setting for entertaining shoot parties, set in a stunning parkland setting, it can accommodate a team of guns either before or after a day’s shooting. Guns can enjoy a relaxed evening with all of the food locally sourced; the vegetables from the Estate garden, and venison from the Deer Park.

There is also the option of a number of excellent local hotels that are happy to cater for shooting parties and dogs.

We can also accommodate anyone wishing to arrive by helicopter. Loaders or instructors can easily be provided if required.

Topography

There are already a number of superb drives, The Orchard, Castle, Garlicks and Horse’s Head to name just four, where the grounds fantastic topography lends itself to producing top quality sport. Over the next couple of years we plan to develop and expand many more drives over the 5,000 acres. This includes creating new drives in Copses wood, which is the wood that sits above Kentchurch Court deer park.

Conservation Efforts

In the last two years 12,000 trees have been planted at Kentchurch as well as restoring 8 hectares of traditional orchards. There is also the ongoing monitoring of over 150 veteran trees around the estate.

About the hosts

Ben Brown and Clive Hussell have successfully run the Tregoyd and LLwyn Madoc shoots for a number of years before taking over the responsibility of running the Kentchurch Court Sporting Club, along with gamekeeper, Jack Black.

A truly excellent experience from all angles. The Gamekeeper Gary and his wife and boss Jo, could not have done more to make it such an enjoyable and productive day. The whole team make all guests very welcome and the game is very well presented with plenty of opportunity to 'get your eye in' due to the steady and prolonged supply of birds. Despite a very still and sunny day, the quality of birds was as good as you will see on any top quality shoot. The food and facilities are also hard to match. An amazing experience. I strongly recommend Kentchurch.

We had a great day here in Gary and Jo's 1st year. Hospitality was 1st class . We met in the beautiful house for coffee and finished off here with a very good meal. In between we had some fantastic sport, even on a still day. The terrain lends itself to great sport. The day was very relaxed. The scenery was spectacular. Gary and Jo are going to get a lot of happy repeat customers to this shoot!

Gary and his team have big plans for Kentchurch and if this week's day is anything to go by this will be a firm favourite in the years to come. They have recently taken over the estate and have had little opportunity yet to modify the shoot, however our roving syndicate had a fab day with challenging birds a plenty and a very warm reception. We have shot around the country over the last 20 plus years and have rarely enjoyed a shoot as much as Kentchurch.

A fantastic day in a glorious setting with excellent hosts. Challenging, well presented pheasants over good ground gave the whole team a great day away with drinks , elevenses and dinner in the KentChurch Court afterwards to round off the day. We will be returning next year.

Had a very good day here considering it was not shot last season and under new management. Gary and Jo were exceptional hosts and made us feel at home. All the guns enjoyed the shooting which provided some very good sporting birds and we hope to be back next year. Richard Morgan-Jones.
