Simulated Game shooting in West Sussex

Simulated Game shooting in West Sussex

Simulated game shooting is the art of mimicking a day on live quarry as closely as possible with the big differences being the fact that you shoot clays instead of live game and the time of year.

About simulated game shooting in west sussex

Many believe that the best simulated days offer close to the same exhilaration of game shooting with the unknown sporting element and anticipation being the difference. As with game shoots, simulated shoots vary somewhat with the most expensive ones employing manual trappers which offers greater variance to automated traps but it comes at a price.

We are 3 mates who have set this company up in order to provide an excellent days shooting combined with a great social event. We will be led by you as to what you want from the day. We are very aware, but some people want to pull the trigger a lot, others come for the social event and some want to do a bit of both - It's your day, we're here to provide you with the best entertainment possible. We have set ourselves up in order that you can either come to our ground, set the rolling hills of the South Downs where we can accommodate all levels of shooting and if you so desire we can put on some of the highest birds in the South East. Or we can come to you and in consultation with you ensure that our set up gives you a top class simulated day. Please get in touch if you want to book a day with us -

Mill Farm

West Sussex, United Kingdom

Mill Farm started clay shooting in 1971, originally for the local tenant farmers and game keepers on The Leconfield Estate.  It became a well know open shoot held on the first Sunday of the month. This format has continued through until now with the addition of a charity shoot each year and a Christmas shoot, with an average attendance of 130 people on an open Sunday morning shoot. Shooting on these days starts at 10am with last entries at 12.30pm. We always ask shooters to use fibre wads as we graze areas with sheep. Fibre wad cartridges in 12 gauge and 20 gauge are always available.  We recycle all our empty cartridges with a company who specialise in farm waste recycling.  We always provide refreshments and hot sausages in a roll, with the sausages been produced from the farms’ own tradition woodland pork. The farm is over 300 acres with a 12 acre lake, woodland, marsh land, rolling grassland and arable.  The farm was taken over from the 29th September 2009 by Andrew and Jenny Loughan, with the view of making the farm more diverse commercially and environmentally. The farm livestock is sold direct to customers either in the form of boxed lamb or boxed pork. Simulated Game Shooting (SGS) was introduced to help maximise the shooting potential of the farm without shooting live quarry. A SGS day consists of a breakfast on arrival, safety briefing and then a short walk or drive to the first stand. We normally cater for parties of up to 18 people at a time, with 6 guns standing at any one time. They may have 6 loading and the further group of 6 socialising. Once all three parties have shot, it is off to the next stand ready to do battle again. After the second drive we stop for more refreshments before proceeding to the last drive before lunch. A very welcoming local pub is used for an excellent roast followed by a desert before coming back to the farm for the last remaining two drives of the day. After the last drive it is then a case of leaving with warm barrels, fond memories and a slightly sore shoulder.  **A quote from a couple of past SGS at Mill Farm** _"Good afternoon Andrew, Just a note to thank you for putting on such a great day for us all yesterday. This was, after many years of shooting, something that I had always wanted to have a go at and can honestly say that I was not disappointed. Very well organized, relaxed and friendly bunch of guys and a great lunch, what more could one ask for? (Other than to turn Ian down a notch or two)! Please pass on our thanks to your team of helpers and of course, Jenny." All the best, Andy_ _(If any of the photos came out I’d love to see them when you get a couple of minutes) A._ _"Hello Andrew and Jennifer,_ _Just a quick email to thank you both so much for a fantastic day on Saturday it really was superb.  If you do have a spare minute I would really appreciate it if you could forward on the photo(s)._ _Once again many thanks, and I look forward to seeing you on the next clay shoot."_ _Tim_ _"We hope that this gives you an overview of Mill Farm and our passion for clay shooting, we will look forward to hearing from you shortly." Kind regards Andrew_
