Simulated Game shooting in Derbyshire

Simulated Game shooting in Derbyshire

Simulated game shooting is the art of mimicking a day on live quarry as closely as possible with the big differences being the fact that you shoot clays instead of live game and the time of year.

About simulated game shooting in derbyshire

Many believe that the best simulated days offer close to the same exhilaration of game shooting with the unknown sporting element and anticipation being the difference. As with game shoots, simulated shoots vary somewhat with the most expensive ones employing manual trappers which offers greater variance to automated traps but it comes at a price.

Harboro Rocks Simulated Game

Derbyshire, United Kingdom

Harboro Rocks Simulated Game Days provide authentic shooting experiences against the stunning backdrop of the Derbyshire Peak District. Since 2010, we've delivered challenging drives that are both exciting and realistic—giving you all the fun without any feathers! Enjoy delicious food and drinks throughout the day, prepared by our own chef. Share stories and laughs with fellow enthusiasts in our welcoming shoot cabin, creating a friendly atmosphere. THE DRIVES *Pigeon*: The opening drive is designed to ease everyone into the day. Five shooters take their positions while five others load. When the whistle blows, targets are sent into the zone over decoys. Expect at least 400 targets per five shooters per drive, with around 100 cartridges needed per drive depending on your shooting pace. *Partridge*: This drive features fast-moving birds and occasional crossing targets to keep participants alert. Oscillating trap base plates ensure a wide spread across the shooters. You'll need 100–150 cartridges for this session. *Pheasant*: A crowd favourite, the terrain here creates ideal conditions for high pheasant targets descending into the field below. These birds are quite challenging, prompting a repeat on the fifth drive. It's an excellent chance to hone your skills ahead of the new season. *Duck*: These targets accurately mimic ducks in flight, such as Mallard, Teal, and Wigeon. *Grouse*: Experience shooting from real Grouse Butts. Low, fast, driven, and quartering targets are perfect for sharpening your technique before The Glorious 12th. GENERAL INFORMATION • Full Day with comprehensive hospitality (£195 + VAT). Individuals welcome. • Each team of 15 shooters will face approximately 6,000 varied "birds" across different drives; we recommend at least 500 fibre wad cartridges per person (plastic wads are strictly prohibited). Many shooters use over 750 cartridges during the day. Mini Days (Full Teams Only) *Silver Package* (up to 400 cartridges) • For up to 15 shooters • £1,875 + VAT group rate (£125 per person with full team) • 4,000 clays across four drives • Bacon cob served with tea and coffee on arrival • Elevenses: pork pie, sausages, nibbles • Beers, tea, coffee, soft drinks available *Bronze Package* (Half Day, up to 300 cartridges) • For up to 15 shooters • £1,650 + VAT group rate (£110 per person with full team) • 3,000 clays over three drives • Bacon cob, tea, coffee on arrival • Elevenses: pork pie, sausages, nibbles • Selection of beers, tea, coffee, soft drinks We suggest using 21g fibre wad cartridges—they're gentler on your shoulder when shooting large volumes in a single session. DRESS CODE Smart casual is preferred to maintain some tradition in the shooting field, but tweeds are not required. Please avoid t-shirts and jeans . SAFETY Hats, safety glasses, and hearing protection are mandatory. With so many targets overhead, clay fragments can sometimes stray. INSURANCE Harboro Rocks holds full public liability insurance through NFU. We strongly encourage all participants to secure their own shooting insurance via: • BASC • CPSA • Country Side Alliance INSTRUCTION AND NOVICE SHOOTERS Gun hire and instructors are available with advance notice.
