Pheasant shooting in Northern Ireland

Pheasant shooting in Northern Ireland

The pheasant shooting season runs from 1st October to 1st February. Pheasant shooting is the most popular game quarry in the UK and driven high pheasants are the most sought after and often the most expensive.

About pheasant shooting in northern ireland

When deciding on which pheasant shoot to visit, take into account the reviews the shoot has received, and when speaking with the shoot, ask questions to understand fully what the shoot offers. The price per bird calculation is one way of comparing days, but there is a lot more to a day than the price you pay.

Co Armagh, United Kingdom

Outstanding driven duck shooting in Northern Ireland, these ducks are driven and not just circling around a pond, offering exceptional sport and at an outstanding price. The estate has enough drives to shoot back to back days without repeating drives form the first day's shooting, with all drives offering Guns the chance to shoot extremely high ducks. This season there will also be pheasant and some partridges in the drives offering extremely sporting and exciting shooting. The ducks are driven from high banks and flighted back to ponds a considerable distance from the Gun line, this means that Guns are shown very high birds which only pass over once rather than circling constantly overhead. **It is still permitted to use lead shot on this estate.** Airport transfers can be arranged as can all relevant licenses and permits . Please contact me for more information.

Baronscourt EstateBGA ASSURED

Co Tyrone, United Kingdom

Spectacular professionally run shoot over 5,000 acres of sporting countryside in a magical setting. **Driven woodcock shooting** during the winter months in November, December and January.   Woodcock is one of the most revered and sporting birds. It is a very testing shot, as it flushes very fast, swoops and curls, often with little or no sound. Woodcock arrive every year in Ireland from their breeding ground in northern Europe and Russia. We adopt a very strict limit on the numbers of days that we offer this sport, due to self-imposed conservation reasons. As a result we only offer a maximum of 4 days shooting per month. The emphasis and ethos of the type of shooting is best enjoyed by true sportsmen and women, who relish a good challenging day and have respect and integrity for the countryside. Baronscourt attracts a high number of woodcock because of its mild climate in the winter; as well as the provision of specialist cover for sheltering in, and the availability of very rich food sources in the nearby pastureland. Much of the coniferous woodland cover has been carefully managed to create the perfect habitat for woodcock, allowing guns the opportunity for a sporting shot. Rides have been cut through the forest to allow the beaters and the dogs to flush the woodcock.  Guns walk parallel to the beating line, either on a forest roads or track designed to give the gun a clear view of the quarry when it flushes. The ideal number of guns in the group is 8 guns, and should be considered the minimum number. All the arrangements are made by the Estate for the shooting experience. The shoot is led by the Estate’s Headgame Keeper together with a team of highly experienced beaters and their dogs will guide the day’s proceeding. The Estate provides transport for the day, and a light lunch is normally arranged on the Estate in the stableyard. We do advise that only experienced shots take part as safety is of the paramount and ask that all guns have valid insurance. Please see our booking conditions found on our website. Due to the nature of the countryside and terrain we do advise that all guns are in fit enough condition to walk over uneven ground, steep slopes, which can be slippery and can create physical exertion. The shooting is let on a either a two or three day basis, with accommodation provided on the Estate in the Governors Lodge and Clock Tower, both 4 star rated by Northern Ireland Tourist Board. No guarantee is given as to the bag limit due to the fact that this is wild game shooting (we recommend that clients take out weather insurance as if the shoot is cancelled due to weather related issues we cannot provide a refund).  The Estate will use its expert knowledge and best endeavours to provide a challenging and sporting experience.  The **Driven pheasant shoot** at Baronscourt is well known in Northern Irish shooting circles.  It provides some of the most challenging shooting opportunities available in N. Ireland in a beautiful setting, and is also great fun.  A few let days are offered each year to a team of 8 guns.  The bag expectancy is from 200 birds per day, and two back to back days can be offered.  All transportation is provided on the day for the guns, in our shoot wagon - which provides a great place for the guns to chat and have a joke between drives.  Refreshments are provided midway through the morning in a lovely log cabin, by the edge of Lough Fanny, with a roaring fire to accompany the sloe gin and sausage rolls and hot cup of soup. The Estate is happy to advise on local accommodation options. Press mentions "A trip to an Emerald Isle shoot ticks all the boxes for Darren Crush"  featured the Baronscourt shoot in Shooting Gazette, Jan 2011.  The shoot was also featured in the Shooting Times in early 2011. In addition, to the driven woodcock and driven pheasant  we also offer a number of walked up and rough days for duck and pheasant shooting. Please get in touch if you would like more information on any of the above. Getting to Nothern Ireland from GB is really very easy, with daily flights from Belfast to all regional and main airports.  Airport transfers can be arranged.

Belle Isle Estate

Fermanagh, United Kingdom

**WOODCOCK AND SNIPE SHOOTING IN NORTHERN IRELAND** **BELLE ISLE ESTATE** Belle Isle Estate, located in the heart of Co. Fermanagh in Northern Ireland, offers superb woodcock and snipe shooting in a region renowned for its quality sport and unforgettable hospitality.  For those of you who relish wild sport rather than the same old driven game, this is the ultimate shooting adventure.  Getting to Belle Isle is often easier than some Highland Estates which means we are easily accessible.   Situated on a private island Estate on Upper Lough Erne, Belle Isle is a wild bird shoot like no other. Its location on the shores of the Erne waterway mean that Belle Isle can provide some of the finest snipe and woodcock shooting in the West of Ireland. Spread across 435 acres of wooded islands and rushy foreshore, plus a number of traditional Irish bogs nearby, guns will experience a sporting experience like no other, as our team of dedicated and knowledgeable beaters will present driven snipe and woodcock that will challenge even the most experienced of shots! Woodcock shooting occurs in the woodlands on the main island of Belle Isle and can also be arranged at the nearby Baronscourt Estate. Whilst the majority of drives will see guns standing, a number of drives require guns to enjoy driven snipe from carefully positioned boats along the shores of the Erne – a peg that nobody can forget. This unique experience lives long in the memory of many of our guests. Complementing the unique sporting experience is the superb accommodation. During their stay guns and their partners are accommodated in the 16th Century Belle Isle Castle, which has recently been refurbished to offer 6 en-suite bedrooms and 2 twin bedrooms, one with an en-suite whilst the other has a dedicated bathroom. Our chef provides a wonderful 3-course dinner served in the banqueting hall, and our wide selection of fine wines will cater for all tastes. The Castle is fully equipped with complimentary Wi-Fi and Sky television, as well as board games and card tables. Additional accommodation can be provided in the adjacent Coach House. Whilst we make every effort to present a quality shooting experience, the nature of woodcock and snipe shooting means that bag numbers can vary considerably according to the prevailing weather conditions and height of the lough. However, our experienced team and our access to multiple drives means that we will do everything to make your shooting trip a truly unique experience in the heart of the West of Ireland. We look forward to welcoming you!
