We are thrilled to be working with Guns on Pegs again to offer you our new look at the agency experience. Charles Brownlow Ltd are a small and most importantly independent sporting agency. Our estate search services are done on your behalf, we are paid by you. This gives us maximum coverage with the ability to use estates not normally open to paying agency fees or even going to other agencies on your behalf. This means we do not need to shoe horn you into an estate on our books. We offer guests 14 years of agency experience in Scotland and over 30 years of personal experience of fishing, shooting and stalking all over Scotland and the UK. We offer mixed sporting holidays, short sporting breaks, days in the field and many other outstanding sporting packages. Since 2011 we have also run the world famous Game Train Scotland which offers guest the best in UK field sports experiences. We follow The code of Good Shooting Practice and it forms part of our contract with our guests. We also assure that there is an onward market for the birds shot on any days shooting. How and why it works: 1) We find and book an estate following the normal agency timeline, guiding you through the process as much you require. The only difference is at this stage we will agree a finder’s fee for Charles Brownlow Ltd based on your requirements, these range from £50 to £2000 but tend to be in the £250 - £300 mark. We have been trialling this for the last three years and have found it works well, it gives you the guest peace of mind. 2) Once we are agreed and provisionally booked your holiday/days sport I will introduce you direct to the estate. Your tenancy agreement and invoice will come direct from the estate. We invoice you for Charles Brownlow Ltd’s finder’s fee once you have paid your deposit and signed the tenancy agreement. This means you have security that your money has reached the estate and your day is secure, you will have a very clear idea of the agreement you have with the estate. 3) Charles Brownlow remains your agent in the run up, during and after your trip in the same way any other agency is. We are an agency built on passion for the countryside, we have no investors or massive overheads that put us under pressure to shoe horn our guests into trips. Being small and independent gives us the ability to give our guest advice that is in their interest without an eye on our bottom line. We also understand that pushing you take the highest birds and the biggest bags is not in your interest, rather more we focus on the day.

D V Sporting is run by David Virtue who has over 40 years experience in shooting in the Scottish borders, we cover a large area of ground in the Scottish borders, east Lothian, mid Lothian & Northumberland shooting some large estates totally laid out for shooting offering nearly all wild game shooting from flighting pinkfooted & greylag geese in the first light of dawn to shooting teal & mallard on some tucked away flight pond at last light! We do walked up rough days offering 6/8 species of mixed game in the bag eg. teal,mallard,snipe,hare,woodcock,pheasant.pigeon,rabbit.we also do walked up days & a few driven days on grouse on the lammermuir & moorfoot hills in stunning scenary. We also do very good pigeon decoying on harvested stubble fields in August & September, we supply all the kit from hides, decoys, magnets & set you up in the best locations. We also do a few days roost shooting pigeon & some spring drillings which can be very good. We offer some very good deer stalking for roe deer over a wide variety of terrain both stalking & high seats and we shoot on average 6 medal class bucks each year. We also do cull packages on the deer stalking for bucks & does so beginners who are wanting to try stalking can come & have a go we have estate rifles they can use for cull packages from £90\. We have some very wonderful scenery to go stalking in. Packages from 1 outing to a week, i can also arrange stalking for red stags & hinds at very reasonable prices. Semi driven & full driven days on game are also available, pheasant & partridge & grouse mixed if you like on very good borders estates with challenging birds.. Typical trip for a group of 5/6 guns would be 2/3 days goose shooting in the morning, back for a hearty breakfast & then the afternoon spent on a semi driven rough day with a variety of game in the bag, then retire to a local country pub for a nice steak & a few beers. You can tailor the trip to suit yourselves, we have it all on offer here. Very keen to get youngsters involved in the sport so they are very welcome, 4x4 transport can be arranged & airport pick up at edinburgh also.

Single guns are available on five star Pheasant and Partridge shoots in the Scottish Borders and Northumberland. These are well established shoots showing birds of the very highest quality in beautiful surroundings. Thirlestane Castle, Longcroft, Lylestane, Tollishill and Burncastle are situated on the South East side of the Lammermuirs hills and are only 40 minutes drive from both Edinburgh airport and Berwick-upon-Tweed Train station. Set in steep valleys on the edge of the Grouse moor the fabulous shooting is complemented by the magnificent scenery. Drives such as Dead Mans Gully, The East Side, Jimmy's, Blaeberrys, The Pig Wood, The Quarry, Cosy Cleuch and The Cattle Grid need to be seen to be believed. The Bowmont Valley and Greenhill are situated in stunning scenery in the heart of the Cheviot Hills. Owned by the Duke of Roxburghe we have developed both shoots over the last 20 years or so. Drives such as Sourhope, Gloomy Cleuch, The Kings Seat, Auchope Cottage, Dodd Hill The Red Gyle, The Dam, Drouke Knowe and Mainside to name a few are a match for any drives in the country. We have guns available to join high quality Pheasant and Partridge days and can also accommodate full teams of guns. <span style="font-size: 1em;">We supply a mid morning snack with bullshot, followed by lunch with good wines. Transportation around the shoot is included in the price. All pickers-up are supplied by us but guns are welcome to bring properly behaved dogs.</span> Loaders are supplied by us, but guns are welcome to bring their own loader if they wish. There are no cartridge restrictions. <span style="font-size: 1em;">All three estates are within easy reach of both Edinburgh and Newcastle Airports and London Kings Cross to Berwick-upon-Tweed by train is a great option at around 3.5hrs.</span> Top quality Pigeon shooting and Roe Deer stalking are also available. Kirk Yetholm shoot is approx. 10 miles south east of Kelso and approx 25 miles from berwick in the borders, this is spectacular countryside with really magnificent scenery and produces very testing high quality birds. This shoot is not for the faint hearted, they are high fast testing birds. The topography is ideal for high birds. We shoot over approx. 3500 acres and have about 14 drives. The drives produce quality birds and guns generally shoot 1 to 4/5 shots. We do release some partridge for early season shooting, with pheasant for the main <span style="font-size: 1em;">shooting. </span> <span style="font-size: 1em;">On the Crags drive and the March drive the birds [see pictures 3&4] are very high and fast which usually result in i shot per 5/6 shots. There are two other drives that produce high and fast birds of note the Mast drive and Crookedshaws. Because of the terrain we do not require wind to produce good high </span><span style="font-size: 1em;">pheasants in fact the least wind the better. Even early season birds fly just as high and fast as the later birds, with a few partridges mixed in to make it interesting.</span> We shoot Mondays starting on 7th October, mainly 150/ up to 300 bird days, pheasant and a few partridges. Accommodation is available the night before and after if required at the local village pub "The Border Hotel", Kirk Yetholm. TD5 8PQ at the end of the "Pennine way". We assemble outside the "border",at 9am ready for the first drive at 9-30am. Guns can use there own transport or they can double up with someone if the ground is very soft. After the 2nd drive we have mid morning refreshments. At lunch time usually 1-00pm have a sit down Lunch all provided inclusive in the cost of the birds. We do ask that you have your own insurance. Dogs are allowed to pick up providing they are kept under control. Only safe experienced guns please. It is wise to book early so as not to be disappointed.

The Riddell estate is set in the rolling hills of the Scottish borders, just outside the small village of Lilliesleaf in Melrose, Roxburghshire. The topography of the estate lends itself to shooting and allows us to present testing birds to even the most experienced guns.  Riddell Shoot is set in undulating ground, which provides exciting pheasant and partridge drives also with an option of several duck drives. Lunch and drinks are included. We can tailor the day to suit the client and you will find a warm atmosphere here at Riddell. We shoot over 2000 acres of ground and have around 18 main drives. We are located in the Scottish Borders close to Selkirk, Hawick and Melrose. We are about one and half hour drive from Newcastle and around one hour from Edinburgh. We have excellent partridge shooting at Riddell starting the 1st week of September with exciting drives and mature quality birds,then our mixed days start in November. We rear all of our own birds so as to insure high quality shooting.If you take a day at Riddell you will enjoy a warm friendly atmosphere.
