We are a warm, friendly and fun shoot with rolling topography which lends itself perfectly for presenting challenging game birds. The shoot is based around the beautiful grounds of Westwood House, near Ombersley in Worcestershire. There are many acres of game covers on and around hilltops which are cited in precise locations which help show the birds at their best for sporting shooting yet at killable ranges.
We have a range of drives and quarry which provides a varied and diverse days sport. There are 130 acres of traditional woodlands which were planted specifically for shooting and country sports. Pheasant drives such as Keeper's Cottage, the Ice Bank and Kingswood are executed just as they were intended when they were planted years ago, to show fast, high birds. A credit to our forefathers and their vision, guns stand on both wide open rides and on conservation grassland, providing exciting shooting.
We aim to add few partridge into the day's sport to mix things up a little and to keep guns on their toes. These little rockets use the wind and on drives such as Devil's Bank and Rollercoaster their twisting undulating landscape to whizz over the guns and often the pickers up!
We can also show two driven duck drives where guns stand on wide open woodland rides and, just like high pheasant, the birds fly over the guns once. Being presented in this way helps greatly in retrieving the game. If the birds listen to their instructions it is sometimes possible to get all three species over the guns at once on one remarkable drive!
At Westwood Sporting we have good old fashioned values, we are proud to show our game and thoroughly encourage our guns to take plenty home. Everybody comes to the shoot to socialise with one another, which makes for a warm, friendly and reassuring atmosphere. Many of the teams that come to our shoot choose to join us at the local pub to reflect on another great day's sport.
SIMULATED GAME SHOOTING
We offer simulated game shooting through out the year using the same undulating ground as our game shooting to show an excellent array of random targets. The clays come at the guns from all angles and speeds to replicate many species of birds.
We use state of the art Promatic traps which rotate at all angles on pre programmed firing sequences. We use two Huntsman trailers which are fitted with three traps each and a semi automatic Montreal trap. The majority of the clays are midi clays, all speeds and angles can be adjusted to suit the team's requirements. These new trailers can also be safely raised on telehandlers for seriously extreme targets. They are controlled remotely from behind the guns, the speed of fire can be adjusted throughout the drive which helps utilise more clays if the guns were to tire or slow down!
We follow the same format as a standard driven game day, with meals and drinks included. Each gun gets to shoot each drive from two different peg positions. We can tailor drives to team's requirements if they want to practice a specific target. Notice of this prior to the day is appreciated.
Hosted days are £3250 for up to 20 guns. Social guests £40 per head
BESPOKE MOBILE SIMULATED GAME SHOOTING
We also offer an extremely popular bespoke mobile simulated game service. Whereby we use our state of the art Promatic Huntsman trailers to put on simulated game shoots on your own land, farm, shoot or estate (subject to land suitability). It is a great way of thanking beaters, helpers and landlords on shoots by offering a summer catch up and clay shoot. It is a perfect way to celebrate birthdays as it is excellent value for money. It lends itself to corporate hospitality as so many people can attend and shoot. We can comfortably accommodate teams of 30-36 to shoot, with colleagues loading for one another plus spectators hence it is a very social event, great talking points and perfect for team building. The service is popular with those looking to organise charity fun raising events, work parties (all year round or at Christmas), as well as hen and stag events and even clay shooting on the day of your wedding.
We arrive 2 hours prior to your chosen starting time for a site appraisal and to set up. It’s appreciated if shooting could be finished by 5pm.
Mobile days are £1600 for 5,000 clays. £100 for each additional 1,000 clays.
Hospitality
Tasty bacon breakfast rolls get everyone off to a good start. Between drives we serve a variety drinks along with savoury snacks and homemade cakes to ensure everyone keeps their energy levels up. A late lunch of homecooked, locally sourced food rounds off the proceedings with a chance to discuss the day's activity over a refreshing beverage. For mobile simulated days, hosts are able to provide their own hospitality services.
Topography
The shoot is blessed with a range of topography enabling us to present birds from steep woodland drives and from game covers across wide valleys, which makes for exciting and challenging sport.
Conservation Efforts
Our shoot manages traditional woods, through selective coppicing and felling and replanting. This way the wood remains sustainable, and helps maintain a healthy habitat to rear game birds and other wildlife.
We are in the higher level stewardship scheme with acres of land taken out of arable farming production and planted with wild flowers which gives wildlife a habitat in which to thrive. Many watercourses have 6m buffer strips alongside them which helps to maintain water quality and gives wildlife a safe area from modern agriculture tillage and harvesting practices.

Mr. Andrew Meikle
Henry was a fantastic host who kept us entertained and well fed & watered all day. Each drive provided good shooting from pegs 1-8, with some challenging driven duck to end (note these are very much driven and not tame). I have no hesitation in recommending this shoot.

Had a great days shooting here when I took a single peg on a let day. Shooting mainly pheasant with few ducks and some partridges which added to the excitement of the day .The day was well organised by Henry and his keeper showing good birds on every drive. Hopefully I will shoot here again this year.

Absolutely super day. I have shot at Westwood Sporting in October and November 21 and had brilliant experiences both times. The welcome from Henry and his team is top notch. Hospitality was excellent and very friendly with great food and drinks. The quality of the birds was very high with well presented pheasants. The ducks driven over a wood were a challenge and very different. I am already looking forward to returning. Highly recommended.

A wonderful shoot. Myself and some friends booked a day at Westwood in December last year and were made to feel very welcome by Henry and John on arrival. We shot 5 drives and the team showed us some great birds despite the tricky conditions. If you’re looking for a down to earth shoot, with good birds run by lovely people, I’d highly recommend!
