Enjoy a day out on the Marlborough Downs shooting mostly pheasants with the occasional partridge, duck and woodcock. Based at a working racing yard, the Ridgeway Racing Shoot offers a unique shooting opportunity, with the beautifully undulating Marlborough Downs and, in particular, The Ridgeway, providing the perfect topography from which to shoot amongst stunning scenery.

Guests are greeted at 9:15 am with a bacon roll and hot cup of tea/coffee before heading out onto the first drive. The first two drives are closely followed by generous homemade elevenses which are served in our warm and cosy BBQ hut.

Our days are based on a fun enjoyable day out for our guests, showing consistent good sporting birds throughout the day. From our strategically placed pieces of game cover, our five main drives offer guns a good variety of settings. Guns are driven from drive to drive in a trailer, with a gator also in use to assist those guns who are less mobile to their pegs.

An evening meal can also be arranged separately if guests wish and there are a number of charming B&Bs close by and on site Ar B+Bs to suit everyone’s needs.

For those racing enthusiasts, a day's shooting can easily be combined with breakfast on the gallops watching the horses in action, should you so wish.

Mr. Ian Booth

Stunning small (ish) shoot ideally suited to anyone who isn't into the larger more corporate days. Great team, absolutely brilliant location with rolling hills and valleys. Bacon / sausage rolls and tea / coffee on arrival, good gun bus, drinks at snacks after the first 2 drives then soup and a warm pasty for lunch in the log cabin with a wood fire! Plenty of drinks for the non drivers and an all round great atmosphere. Nobody on the day had shot there before and we will all be back. Many thanks to Neil, Claire and the team.

A fantastic day at Ridgeway with wonderful hospitality. Warm welcome at breakfast, with a great atmosphere and camaraderie between the guns throughout the day. Despite it being the end of the season there were plenty of birds still around, including some very sporty partridge that required the odd expletive as they raced toward the line. Highly recommended and will visit again next season.
