Come and shoot the hardest bird in the world in beautiful South Africa. The 'Rockie' is considered as the hardest pigeon in the word. The fly at about 65mph and fly huge distances to their preferred dining areas and cause huge damage to a farmers crops.

They arrive in their thousands early in the morning diving into the sunflower fields where they will stay for the day.

The birds are normally shot flighted giving very challenging shooting but they can also be decoyed although they are much easier to shoot with this method.

The shooting is close to Johannesburg so no long transfers and the accommodation is in private guest houses which are normally of the exclusive use of the party.

The flight to Johannesburg is direct from London and it is easy to take firearms if organised in advance. the flight is overnight and takes approx 11 hours.

A full weeks shooting for 6-8 guns costs £2500 inclusive of all accommodation, food, 1 bottle wine per person per day, Transfers and 6 days shooting. Excludes Airfares, additional alcoholic beverages, Cartridges.

Hospitality

A warm South African hospitality where the food is home made and truly delicious. With the sun shining most of the time what is there not to like? and even better with food and shooting all at the same time.

Topography

The shooting is normally over flatish fields which are huge being between 100 hectares to 200 hectares in size shooting over Sorghum, maize and sunflowers - hence why we need to have 6-8 guns as they help move the birds about.

About the hosts

Mr Pigeon has been shooting since he was 8 years old and has teamed up with a very experienced Afrikaans Professional Hunter who's clients this year fired over 400 slabs of cartridges at Rockies... so he is able to show you incredible numbers of Rock Pigeons.
