Description: 2020/2021 (FRIDAY SHOOT ) Walk and stand rough pheasant shoot over approx 500 acres with 3000 birds to wood.

Location & Cost:  This shoot is situated not far from 20 mins from Marlborough and Andover respectively. All members must have a valid shotgun license and insurance (Mandatory). We have 1 Full Gun vacancy and 3 Half Gun vacancies for this fourth-coming season. Cost £910 full gun (8 Days) and £455 Half Gun (4 Days). The cost includes a daily beaters fee of £20. We have approximately 500 acres with three release pens. The shoot is situated in an attractive wood, forestry commission land with plantations and plenty of ground cover.

What can you expect: We meet at 0900 hrs for the Meet and Greet and mandatory Shoot Captains Safety Briefing upon conclusion of which, we make our way to the first drive and the day begins. We then stop for lunch about 1130/1200 hrs which includes bacon sandwiches, and refreshments (Port, Slow Gin), then shoot a further 2/3 drives to finish the day (6 drives in total).

With 3000 poults being put down this year, accurate shots are most welcome! However, Guns are permitted to shoot like 'Duffers' on the odd occasion and if they so must!

The shoot consists of a range of members from differing backgrounds. The over riding factor being that all guns enjoy, and above all, a safe days shooting away from the office with like minded people, where good company and enjoyment of the task at hand outweighs the necessity of a full bag! There will be 6 drives during the day with guns walking one and standing one.

Shoot members are most welcome to bring along a dog (all dogs are welcome regardless of it being gundog trained or not.)

Contact details: Paul Stiggants (Shoot Captain) for an initial conversation to discuss the shoot and a follow-up visit to the shoot to be arranged at your convenience. We have 3/4 work days planned throughout the year and on these days, I would expect the members to attend and assist with pen repairs and shoot maintenance but obviously, family and work commitments take priority.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you require any further information regarding our shoot.

Regards, Paul Stiggants

I have just signed up for my third season here. A fantastic informal shoot, the improvements we have made over the time I have attended the shoot is adding to the qaulity of the shoot. The members travel near and far to attend which speaks volumes of the enjoyment we all get from the days. The guns and beaters are from diverse backgrounds but all have the same ethos around shooting. This is not a shoot with a 'commercial' attitude but feels more like a group of friends enjoying a day out. I would highly recommned the shoot to anyone looking for a freindly and inclusive syndicate on a stand one walk one basis.

I have been a member of this shoot for over 10 years, which says a lot straight away! A great group of friendly people from all sorts of backgrounds. The woods are wonderful and the shooting is a challenge on many drives. We all enjoy a day out with like minded people. The shoot has improved over recent years as we have built new pens, cleared rides, and tried new drives. A traditional walk 1 and stand 1 shoot . Highly enjoyable.

I’ve been a member of the shoot for 6 seasons and for me, this is the epitomy of what shooting is all about; good sport, good company and beautiful countryside. If you want to shoot loads of birds and have everything laid on a plate for you, then this isn’t the shoot for you. If you want to be part of an active shoot with a diverse mix of guns and beaters who all work together to make the best of the shoot, then you’ve found the shoot that you are looking for. There is a good range of quarry, with pheasants making up the bulk of the bag, but good woodcock shooting as the season progresses and challenging pigeons throughout. The shoot had been getting bigger and better every year and there still plenty of scope for this to continue.
