We are a small, friendly shoot with the emphasis on safety and enjoyment. Bag size is not our driving force, though on a formal driven day we all do our best to put a good number of high quality birds over the guns. On our walked up days, it is much more about earning your birds and having some fun. These days are normally taken by returning regular teams, but the dates are more flexible, so we can usually add in a day or two for a new team. BE WARNED, if you can't take a bit of banter, do NOT come along!!

Hospitality

On driven days everyone shares a hot lunch on the shoot provided by my wife. Walked up days include a pub breakfast before we start and then a DIY lunch on the shoot at a time and location usually determined by the weather and how the day's shooting is going!!

Topography

The shoot is mostly arable farm interspersed with mixed broadleaved woodlands and is connected to an area of Forestry Commission woodland that we also shoot over. The ground is mostly undulating and does show some good birds, particularly from the FC wooded valley and The Grassy Bank, which would test most guns' ability!

Conservation Efforts

We do what we can on the shoot under the restrictions that we have including vermin control, ride management, coppicing, feeding well beyond the end of the shooting season and maintaining a supply of fresh water for the wildlife during periods of dry weather.

About the hosts

I am a stickler for safety!! I've been running this shoot for 15 years and taking groups of hunters abroad to hunt driven wild boar for a similar length of time. All I want is for everybody to be safe and have a good time. All I promise is to be honest and do my best.
