Newell Sporting oversees every aspect of the shoot, from growing and managing the cover crops along with hatching and rearing the birds through to releasing, gamekeeping and hosting the day itself. This complete involvement allows the team to maintain exceptional standards with genuine pride and attention to detail.

This traditional Warwickshire driven shoot on the renowned Ragley Estate offers quality birds, beautiful countryside and exceptional hospitality from the moment you arrive.

Set within the rolling countryside of Warwickshire, the shoot lends itself to an authentic driven shooting experience. Combining thoughtfully managed game crops, mature woodland, natural valleys and established drives, providing a varied and thoroughly enjoyable day.

Every aspect of the day is carefully designed to deliver not only quality sport, but also the warmth and camaraderie that lie at the heart of traditional British shooting, hosted by an experienced team and attentive host.

From the moment guests are welcomed at Thornhill Farmhouse, through to drinks and canapés in the field and a traditional shoot lunch, hospitality remains a central part of the day.

The estate's varied landscape creates exciting and enjoyable shooting, with well-presented pheasants and partridges driven over woodland edges, rolling ground and carefully managed cover crops. Drives are planned to provide a balance of sporting challenge and enjoyment throughout the day.

Hospitality

Kick off the day with coffee, tea and bacon rolls upon arrival and whilst pegs are being drawn in the shoot room.

Delicious canapés and a plentiful selection of drinks including Champagne, Gins and premium drinks are served by our wonderful host between every drive.

Back at the private shoot dining room, a locally sourced, seasonal traditional lunch with an indulgent homemade pudding accompanied by wine and drinks is the perfect way to sit and take time to share stories with plenty of debate over the best shots, near misses and memorable moments from every drive.

Birds

What truly sets the shoot apart is the hands-on approach taken by Newell Sporting. Unlike many shoots, the team is involved in every stage of the process, from hatching and rearing the birds through to releasing, managing habitat, presenting the drives and hosting guests on the day itself. This attention to detail and year-round commitment ensures strong, healthy birds, consistently high standards of sport and a shooting experience delivered by the very people who have invested in it from the beginning.

The estate presents strong, well-flighted pheasants and fast, testing partridges, using the natural contours of the Warwickshire countryside to create varied, sporting drives that are as enjoyable as they are memorable.

Topography

The topography at Ragley Estate is wonderfully varied, combining beautiful estate parkland, rolling Warwickshire arable land, mature woodland and sheltered valleys to create a diverse and picturesque shooting landscape.

The natural contours of the ground allow birds to be presented exceptionally well, with drives making full use of the valleys, woodland edges and open farmland to produce a variety of sporting targets throughout the day.

The estate's mix of parkland and woodland provides not only stunning scenery but also the ideal environment for holding and presenting quality pheasants and partridges. Each drive brings its own character, ensuring a varied shooting experience while showcasing some of the finest countryside Warwickshire has to offer.

Conservation Efforts

Every effort is made to conserve the natural landscape at Ragley. From predator control, to woodland management, the estate is a haven for fauna and flora.

Final thoughts

Ragley Estate forms part of the Newell Sporting portfolio, alongside the renowned Colesbourne Shoot in the Cotswolds and Stoke Edith in Herefordshire. Across all three estates, the same principles apply: quality sport, traditional hospitality and meticulous attention to detail from the gamekeepers and hosts, keeping this great British tradition at the heart of everything we do.

What makes Newell Sporting unique is our hands-on involvement in every stage of the process. The team hatches, rears and releases its own birds, manages habitat and cover crops throughout the year, and hosts guests on the day itself.

The loyalty of returning Guns from across the UK and overseas is testament to the standard of sport, warm hospitality and genuine pride that underpin every shoot day delivered.
