A family-run Highland stalking operation in the heart of Sutherland, combining generations of professional deer management with modern facilities and a welcoming approach to rifles of all experience levels.
Topography
A combination of open Highland hill and mixed woodland, allowing us to stalk red and sika deer across varied and challenging terrain
Species
We stalk traditionally managed mature red and sika deer — frequently encountering medal sika stags thanks to Rosehall’s strong sika heritage — along with smaller numbers of roe deer.
Gun hire & insurance
With an indoor rifle range and classroom facilities on site, guests can train and confirm zero before stalking. All stalking is conducted by fully insured, qualified professionals, giving complete confidence to first-time and experienced guests alike.
About the hosts
Stalking is led by owner Marcus Munro, who brings over 50 years of Highland deer management experience and comes from generations of professional stalkers. Having shot his first deer at the age of seven, Marcus combines deep traditional knowledge with a modern understanding of equipment and optics, as a Zeiss Pro Hunter. He is supported throughout the season by his son Hamish, ensuring guests experience a knowledgeable, relaxed and professional atmosphere on the hill.
A typical stalk begins with confirming zero in our indoor range. Venison can also be purchased through our business, allowing guests to take Highland produce home with them.
Non-shooting guests
Yes, non-stalking guests are welcome to accompany on stalks. We encourage young people to attend where appropriate, helping to pass on knowledge of responsible deer management.

Final thoughts
What makes us slightly different is that we can offer a complete experience. Guests are able to train and prepare at our on-site shooting centre before heading onto the hill, making stalking accessible even to complete novices. We can guide someone through their very first shot on the range, their first stalk in the Highlands, and right through to gralloching and butchery - ensuring they understand every part of the process. At the same time, experienced rifles will appreciate access to varied Highland ground, quality red and sika deer, and the use of modern, high-end equipment. We believe in combining traditional Highland values with a progressive, professional approach - offering not just a day’s sport, but a genuine insight into modern deer management in Sutherland.”
