Superb coastal estate that perfectly captivates everything that is good about walked up shooting. The estate is over 3000 acres and includes a commercial driven shoot on one half of the land, this means that in certain areas good numbers of pheasants and partridges can be found. Other areas of the estate are left very quiet and it is here that wild species such as woodcock, snipe, rabbits, mallard, teal, wigeon, gadwall, pintail, tufted, greylag geese, Canada geese and white front geese can be found at different times. There is naturally a lot of pigeons that move around the estate as well, so with all this different quarry it provides the opportunity for very mixed bags and often a new species for some lucky guns. The team that run these days are a great bunch of very friendly, passionate and experienced professionals, we have dogs but more the merrier so please feel free to bring yours.
Hospitality
Hospitality on the day can be provided to different levels from a basic coffee and refreshments to breakfast, lunch and dinner. We have a very good relationship with our local pubs and hotel so with some forward planning we can organise very nice affordable accommodation.
Topography
The estate is a great mix of arable, woodland, scrub and wetland marshes. Depending on what species the team of guns particularly wants to target, will dictate what areas we concentrate on. If the team wants as varied bag as possible, we will often take them to pretty much all the different topography within the same day. This means that we would recommend some good walking boots with gaiters as well as some comfortable trousers and depending on the days weather either a lightweight or heavier waterproof coat.
Conservation Efforts
Conservation is an important part of the estate, there is actually a nature reserve on part of the estate at the moment. Obviously there is extensive predator control that takes place here, this hugely benefits the many nesting birds we have in the spring and summer. Deer management is also taken very seriously the huge amount of muntjac and CWD that is in this area are controlled to reduce the negative affects they have on the natural fauna and flora of the area. Regular fund raising for groups such as the GWCT is also undertaken by us in order to help with studies that help species that we hold dear.
