Campsea Ashe shoot lays four miles off the A12, 15 miles north of Ipswich. The shoot is set over 1,200 acres of woodland, marsh and arable land. We have several woods, the largest of which is able to house up to six drives, for obvious reasons it has earned its name of the 'Big Wood'. Along side the Big Wood we also have another six woodland drives available. In the earlier parts of the season we mainly use a selection of ten maize cover strips and other crop drives ie. sugar beet. We are predominantly a Pheasant shoot, but we also pride ourselves with some Partridge and Duck drives to add some variation and are lucky enough to be able to shoot a number of Woodcock as the season progresses.

Mr Pegg has been shooting as a syndicate member for the last 25 years and has been shoot captain for the last 14 of those. Although he has a while to go to reach the heights of the longest syndicate member who has just retired after 63 years of service.

We all like to meet in the paddock at 8.30 am and head off at 9.00. Transport for the guns is via four wheel drives, it is helpful if you can bring your own but in no way essential. The beaters travel in the game cart. Guns with dogs are welcome, there will also be one, normally two pickers up available.

We aim to shoot an average of 140 head per day.

The cost for gun at Campsea Ashe shoot is £425 per gun per day.

Lunch is not provided, please bring your own packed lunch. We can recommend places to eat and stay if required.

Many thanks for looking and also many thanks to gunsonpegs for their help this season.

Dennis Pegg.

My father and myself bought 2 pegs on this shoot back in October. A very welcoming shoot. Well run and some nice shooting all through the day. Would definitely go back next year

An excellent day, when I joined a friendly team of guns made up of some syndicate members, including two couples shooting muzzle loaders and a couple of other paying guns like myself. This is a no frills, down to earth family run affair where you take your own lunch and drive yourself around, but is all the better for it, delivering fantastic value for money. Mr Pegg gave us clear instruction on the running of the day and Mrs Pegg offered us delicious home made cake and sloe gin at elevenes. Mark the keeper ran a very efficient team of beaters, who delivered a good show of birds on each drive and the pickers up liaised well with the guns, allowing those guns with dogs (including myself), time to work as we wished ensuring each bird was accounted for. Dennis, Sam, Liz and Mark, thank you for a truly memorable day, I hope to join you again in the near future.
