The Sandon estate is a large estate of around 5000 acres in Staffordshire . It is the home of Lord and Lady Harrowby. The shoot has been under new management since 2020 with updated facilities and lots of exciting new drives Developed.

The shoot has over 40 named drives from cover crops and woodland, with bags of 200 upwards. We can show birds that will test the best and our shoot is run to the highest standards in a relaxed manner so you will enjoy your day to the full.

We normally shoot 4 drives depending on the day with a break for drinks/nibbles in the “tower”and then lunch back at the shoot lodge. Transport around the shoot is provided in our gun bus along with a Polaris to peg if needed Although sandon is 99% grassland so easy walking.

A very, very well run shoot.... run by Matt,it is a shoot that feels 'loved & cared for'.... the scenery is stunning as is the shooting. Running my own shoot I fully respect and appreciate all the hard work that goes in, and the vagaries of what can happen on any day...but this day was special...the team obviously enjoy working for Matt and the presentation of the birds is outstanding...we had little wind on the day but the birds were challenging and plentiful. Our team loved it..in fact, having never shot is Staffordshire before, and having been hugely impressed by the terrain and wooded valleys I know that two of the team are booking days later in the season on the basis on what we experienced. !! You can't give a shoot a bigger compliment.... a great shoot run by great people.

This is a wonderful estate with lovely countryside, which happened to look majestic the day we were there, with a heavy frost on the ground and a bright, watery sun. The topography is well suited to driven shooting. The day went well with all aspects of the hosting well done. The beaters did a good job; unfortunately the birds did not like the sunshine and some wind would have made them fly better than they did. We had to be selective. One aspect that slightly jarred on a couple of drives was the presence very close to the line of the (very smart) Polaris and game cart, with chattering chaps stood next to them. Overall we were most content with our visit to this beautiful shoot and we have already booked a bigger day next season.
