Wild hunting in the mountains of northern Spain, what a delight!
Hospitality
We will be staying in a nice hotel in the nearby town of Huesca. We will take breakfast and dinner at the hotel, with lunch served out in the field.
Accommodation
Single rooms of a good standard with ensuite for everyone.
Birds
The first day is driven boar, which can be very fast and at close quarters or further afield and moving more slowly, either way they are sure to get your adrenaline pumping!
The second day involves walking up partridges and shooting them over pointers, though the way this is done on the ground means that some birds may be taken further down the line as driven birds.
Topography
The terrain is typical of the Spanish mountains, but not too difficult in terms of walking.
Conservation Efforts
All the quarry on the estate that we are shooting is wild and relies on natural breeding, so the estate is managed accordingly.
About the hosts
Pierre Jean Lacombe will be hosting us. He speaks very good English and will ensure that everything runs smoothly, so that we all enjoy our trip to the maximum whilst adhering to all the rules especially those relating to safety.
Pricing
The cost is £1900 per hunter plus their travel costs. There are no overages on the bag, nor guarantee either, as both days are wild shooting. That said, we are expected to shoot some 10-15 boar between the group of 7-9 hunters and then some 10 partridges each on the second day.
Travel information
Logistics will be down to personal choice. The options include driving (using LeShuttle or a ferry crossing) or flying into Barcelona and then driving or getting a taxi.
Final thoughts
Pierre has worked with this estate for some 10 years and enjoys doing so because everyone is friendly and they have a great approach to safety and general management of the estate.
