Partridge

El Crespo is one of Spain’s most highly regarded partridge shoots renowned for its exceptional variety, breathtaking scenery, impeccable hospitality and authentic style.

Hospitality

While staying at the Lodge, the food is a highlight in its own right. Meals are prepared using fresh, local ingredients, with menus crafted around traditional Castilian cuisine, often slow cooked game dishes, seasonal vegetables, and hand-selected Spanish wines. Of course, the menu is always adaptable to suit the tastes and dietary requirements of your team, and every meal, from breakfast through to dinner, is a relaxed yet refined occasion, typically enjoyed in the warmth of the lodge’s dining room or under the open sky. Should themed dinners be required, they can of course be accommodated without hesitation.

Accommodation

The main lodge has 13 spacious double bedrooms, with 8 of these located on the ground floor to accommodate guests requiring easier access. In addition to the main residence, two beautifully appointed adjoining lodges offer further accommodation. These were originally constructed to host His Majesty the King of Spain and his entourage when visiting El Crespo — making the phrase “fit for a king” quite literally true.

Birds

A typical day at El Crespo consists of five carefully curated drives. Under the expert guidance of Pedro, the dedicated host, each drive is selected to showcase the unique character of the estate and to provide a dynamic and memorable experience. Throughout the day, each gun is accompanied by a personal loader and a secretario. Your loader, highly experienced and expertly trained, will assist with double gunning to ensure a seamless rhythm to your shooting, with reloads performed at remarkable speed. Meanwhile, your secretario will discreetly manage your peg, helping as needed and counting your shot game.

Topography

Situated in the heart of the province of Ciudad Real, the estate stretches across vast, flat plains that unfurl before the lodge, offering immense and far-reaching vistas. Yet, just behind the main house, the landscape transforms dramatically: El Crespo plunges into a tapestry of rolling valleys, deep historic riverbeds, and gullies, carved by centuries of natural history. These striking features, some spanning hundreds of metres in width, offer not only spectacular vistas but also some of the most exciting shooting in Spain. Within easy reach of the lodge, guests also experience more traditional Spanish drives, where sweeping, sloped arable fields dotted with ancient evergreen oaks create the quintessential setting for Spanish partridge shooting.

Conservation Efforts

The estate remains a family-run operation. In the 1990s, Don Pedro de Borbón-Dos Sicilias, Duke of Calabria, a member of one of Europe's royal families and a trained land agent joined the management alongside his late father-in-law. Together with María, they have nurtured a deeply personal, family-led culture of hospitality with a true focus on conservation.
