Araya

In Extremadura, one of the regions with more hunting tradition of Spain, and only 30 minutes far from the city of Caceres, the estate Hierro de Araya lays.

Araya is part of a blessed land, dominated by the riverbank of the same name, which runs from North to South, and dresses the land in green during all the year, giving the perfect habitat for partridge breeding. The landscape is large and wavy; drives are fast and challenging; it holds a stately house and built in a genuine Spanish style; and, attention is exquisite concerning its quality and the personal relationships, what is truly luxury. Once you know it, to hunt in Araya will be just the excuse to visit often a land with whom you will fall in love.

The main business of the estate is a farm specializing in cow breeding, although in its almost 5.000 acres the hunting game is also offered through the monteria and the small game in many modalities.

Concerning the partridge shoots, a large rolling terrain, with hills and valleys, is used to offer challenging drives. Then, the beaters beat the terrain towards the line of guns situated in the valley, offering usual high and exciting birds. A secretario and a loader help each gun. The first one will point the results and retrieve the birds after each drive; the second one will load the guns in order you don’t miss any bird.

We organize 4 different drives during the morning and we stop to offer an exquisite meal in the main house. There, our own chef and waiters will attend you to offer a nice time with your fellow hunters sharing the opinions of the shoot while tasting the delicious local gastronomy. But our proposal goes beyond, then, at the end of each drive, a small appetizer will be offered in the field, while secretarios retrieve all the came down birds and the complete staff get ready for a new drive.

Beyond the hunt, Extremadura region is a well-known destination thanks to its culture and gastronomy. By one hand, the city of Caceres, named World Heritage City by the UNESCO; the ancient roman theatre of Merida, and all the roman and Arabian vestiges in the region compounds one of the more fascinating lands to discover. By other hand, its gastronomy is based in country products. Its hams, its cheeses and its wines are just a reason to discover this land that you will never forget.
