Our Pigeon season starts in style with a March trip to the picturesque town of Heidelberg South Africa nestled in the Suikerbos mountain range. You will be accommodated at the Heidelberg Kloof Lodge and Country Estate offering top class accommodation while enjoying hot barrelled pigeon shooting on a number exclusive private farms. We invite you to discover a small corner of Africa and enjoy the African outdoor life style with us. Although the shooting is phenomenal, the trip is about far more than big bags. We want you to take a piece of Africa back home with you. From sitting around an open fire having a few drinks and enjoying our local cuisine prepared the African way to the rich history of the Anglo Boer War in the Heidelberg area. There are a number of game farms and reserves in the immediate area wild life sightings are common while driving to the hunting farms. On arrival on the hunting farm you will be met by the wing shooting staff which includes your guides and bird boys for the day. All wing shooting is done with hides and decoys increasing your hit rate providing large bags per day.

Topography
Heidelberg South Africa nestled in the Suikerbos mountain range . Being and agricultural centre the town is surrounded with farms as well as game farms Heidelberg is located in Gauteng a 45 minute drive on a national freeways from OR Tambo airport our farms are in different locations around Heidelberg and are all pre inspected for flight before our guests arrive, all farms fall within a 40km radius from Heidelberg the closest being a 15 minute drive from the lodge.
Conservation Efforts
South Africa has a diverse bird specie population and some more abundant than other it is our responsibility to ensure sustainability of our birds for many years to come , we at PSSA love our wing shooting and do so responsibly by monitoring the farms we hunt and the bird breading seasons to ensure the farms are not over hunted and are bread well.
About the hosts
Wing shooters are passionate about the sport and we enjoy hosting like minded friends that we can share our thoughts and passion with. Although the accommodation is great and the food even better it takes a personal touch to make trips memorable for others. Having a person arrive as a customer and leave as a friend. I started off as a wing shooter growing up on the Springbok flats in the Settlers area of Limpopo known as one of the premier up land locations for game bird, my introduction to a 12 gauge shotgun was at the tender age of five with my Uncle Jack where I shot my first pheasant in flight, I clearly remember the events of that day and still have the two paper SP cartridges and shotgun. Ever since then wing shooting has been a passion or as my wife would say an addiction.
