High volume shooting in Sunflower fields in the Free State province of South Africa. The Rock Pigeon is considered one of the finest game birds on Earth and is often compared to the Red Grouse. The pigeon are shot from blinds when they fly into the field to feed. This is very challenging as they come low and fast, difficult for any gun. Once the pigeon have fed they fly home and provide fantastic "high birds" on their way home. A gun can expect to shoot at least 300-500 cartridges per day.
Hospitality
The accommodation is at the Tredenham Country Hotel or at Oude Kraal Guest House. Both these lodges are 5 star and are included in the daily rate as well as all meals, laundry, liquor and accommodation.
Topography
Vast sunflower field in the heart of South Africa. The pigeon are located by the shoot captain and then the blinds are built where the flight lines are. The area is flat with many arable fields.
