The Lillycombe Estate straddles the A39 between Lynmouth and Porlock. It comprises of 900 acres in one block with additional cover crops on neighbouring land.
In the Twenties it was nationally renowned for grouse and blackcock shooting, now sadly extinct.
The estate changed hands in February 2017. Its long standing owners ran a highly successful sporting shoot for almost 30 years. The quarry being partridge and pheasant.
Rupert Martin, the new owner, has invested in the facilities and his new team, managed by Ian Baldock, have enhanced and improved the drives.
The team are offering early September partridge and mixed bag days of between 300-500 birds from mid October and smaller days in January. Loaders are recommended and can be arranged for you prior to the shoot day given adequate notice.
Deer stalking for Red and Roe is available when in season.
Driving time from Heathrow Airport is 3hrs 20mins Driving time from Bristol Airport is approx. 1hr 50mins Driving time from Exeter Airport is approx. 1hr 20mins Driving time from Taunton is approx. 50mins
Hospitality
Having an owned facility such as The Culbone Stables is a great asset for this shoot. It provides an excellent and flexible facility to help the guns, family and back up staff to enjoy their day.
Depending on the time of year and to suit guns travel arrangements lunch can be after 3 or 4 drives or to 'shoot through'. A secondary facility allows for a snack suitably timed with the main meal.
Lillycombe is supporting the Countryside Alliance 'Game to Eat' initiative for game products from the estate, however if guns wish to choose an alternative that can be arranged prior to the shoot day.
Topography
The estate is blessed with very special topography. Rising to a height above sea level of almost 1600 feet the numerous drives are distributed throughout seven deep valleys, both wooded with ancient oaks and open with fern and heather, surrounded by open moorland.
About the hosts
The new owner, Rupert Martin, has been an enthusiastic shooter since boyhood Having been a guest at Lillycombe several years ago he was fully aware it’s 'magical' aura with potential to improve on what was an already impressive reputation.
When Lillycombe came available, Rupert took the opportunity to own and develop a truly unique piece of England.
Rupert particularly enjoys early partridge and to that end the estate is fully stocked as from 1st September.
Ian Baldock, Rupert's colleague of long standing in the shooting field, has taken on the role of Estate and Shoot Manager improving the existing facilities with keepers, Dan Ashman and Colin Brewer and their wives, Em and Tash.
Rupert's partner, Jenny Harris, is responsible for food and beverages throughout the day.

Great day with friends at Lillycombe. New owner has big plans and things are going very well so far. Topography is ideal for shooting and potential is huge. Host (owners lady friend) was lovely and Ian the shoot manager ensured we all got some great shooting. I brought a friend who has not shot game before (clay shooter mainly) and he loved it.
