Pheasant
Partridge

Leighton is a family run, traditionally laid out sporting estate of almost 2000 acres, offering quality pheasants and partridges from both woodland and game crops. You should also expect exceptional hospitality from owner, Malcolm Corrie.

We are based on the northern side of the Severn Valley, with sensational views of the Wrekin, Ironbridge Gorge and Wenlock Edge.

Charging £57 per bird, which includes VAT, we aim to deliver 150 to 200 bird days. Please note that a deposit of 60% is required to secure a day.

Excellent accommodation is available at the Mytton and Mermaid Hotel in Atcham and the Gaskell Arms in Much Wenlock. Both are within 5 miles of the shoot.

Hospitality

On arrival - coffee, tea and biscuits are served in front of the Hall. 11's - in the field Lunch - hosted in the main Dining Room, with a delicious two course lunch cooked by a local chef, and excellent wines.
Afternoon tea - rounds off the day back in the Dining Room, with homemade cakes and hot drinks served. Please note that a full range of both soft and alcoholic beverages are available throughout your day.

Birds

Consistently high, challenging and sporting birds set against stunning scenery, which test skill and precision. Every one of our 17 drives is different - several drives are standing in wooded valleys!

Topography

Enjoy ancient woodland hanging over steep valleys, which lead from the Wrekin down to the valley of the River Severn. With well placed game crops, you could be standing in either woodland or open valleys.

Conservation Efforts

We graze the extensive parkland at Leighton with native breed livestock. Currently, pedigree herds of English Longhorns are improving both the biodiversity and soil structure.

About the hosts

We are proud that we are a venue known for exceptional sport and views.

Outstandingly good shoot in all respects. I am looking forward to my days this coming season. Always congenial party of guns, well hosted by Malcolm and well run by Nick. 5th season this year 2024

Have been twice in December 2020. As always Malciolm is a very good (and these days safe) host. Gun Bus has sanitizer and spacing, walk to drives where possible (own vehicles not possible). I particularly like the very varied drives alternating woodland and open. Very good staff and well presented birds - not vast flocks (which I hate) but good quality and testing. While it may not be the cheapest is it certainly one of the best value shoots I go on.

Have shot Leighton many times over the past few seasons but the first time with the Owner of the Estate now at the helm Greeted by Malcolm [ The Owner of the Hall] on arrival and introduced to the other Guns over Tea /Coffee. Malcolm was also the Shoot Captain for day to ensure attention to detail Safety briefing and onto the Gun Bus by 09.45 and away Each drive contained more than ample Birds for all. The Third drive produced some very fast Partridges helped by a very stiff breeze and in the blink of an eye they were over the line and gone ……...well a few of them! All in all, felt more like an Invited Guest rather than a Paying Gun Full credit to Nick [ Keeper ] and his very well organised Team of Beaters and Pickets Up I return on the 4th January for Round Two

Nice relaxed day on new shoot to us. Birds flew well despite bright and still conditions and there were plenty to choose from. Hospitality excellent, we were made to feel very welcome by all the team involved to put the day on, everyone had smiles on faces 😊. We would certainly like to shoot here again either as individuals, part team or whole team.
