Leigh Manor is a sporting gem set in a picturesque landscape nestled under the famous Callow landmark, a circular wood which can be seen for miles on the Shropshire-Powys border.
The topography just spells high pheasants with the estate on the side of the Rea Valley with undulating slopes and dingles cut deep into the valley side to provide stunning scenery and views across the Shropshire plains below with the top of the shoot being over 1100 feet above sea level.
The woods have undoubtedly been laid out for shooting by David Staceys's family who have owned the estate since 1763. When Clive of India acquired it for his younger brother William, it then passed down the female line to the Bridgemans and then from the 2nd Viscount Bridgeman to his grandson David.
They estate cover some 2,000 acres west of Minsterley and the opposite side of the valley from Long mountain.
Until 2002 this was a private shoot reserved for a privileged few. New management has seen the introduction of gamecovers taking advantage of steep slopes and valleys provided by the exciting terrain. More recently partridge have been released on the Whitsburn valley creating the draw dropping drive Luckley Point where varying targets cross the valley from every angle. Other classic high pheasant drives include High Coppice, The Manor, Lordstone Wood, Hope Hall, Crabtree Gamecover, Upper Luckley, The Roman Fort and Pennies from Heaven.
If assistance is required for you to get to your peg there is an All Terrain Vehicle available.
Hospitality
A log cabin in the Manor gardens has been made into a cosy gunroom with a log fire here the guns can be entertained and fed with a nice homely meal to suit their requirements. The estate even has its own local pub 'The stables' where scrumptious pub meals can be organised with local ales served by a log fire.
Topography
The whole shoot is set on a ridge with a deep valley cutting into its steep banks creating several of our best drives, we also have where guns stand below high plateaus topped by woods and game/covers set in scenery. From this we can provide a real mix of real mix of experiences with three or four snap shooting drives and some drives where you can view the birds coming afar perhaps too far for the nerves? Hence we can tailor the day to your preferences with some 28 drives to chose from.

Mr. Andrew Jones
Had an absolutely wonderful day. Couldn’t have asked for more. Testing birds, great hospitality and in magnificent surroundings. The Stables pub also a little gem. Thank you James and your very hard working team.
