The Great Hagley Shoot is a hidden gem, situated in South Shropshire, close to the welsh borders. It is half an hour from the historic market town of Ludlow. The topography is typical of the unspoiled South Shropshire countryside with steep valleys and rolling hills. Great Hagley Shoot is a small family shoot producing some high quality pheasant and partridge driven across steep wooded banks and from high woodland and game covers.
The shoot was established 6 years ago and has progressed each season with a typical bag of around 100 - 120 birds. Only two let days available each season.
At Great Hagley we have a purpose built shoot room where the team of guns will meet in the morning. Tea and coffee will be served, followed by the morning briefing and the drawing of pegs, before moving on to the first drive. There will be a break after the second drive accompanied by sloe gin, champagne and warm sausages from the local butcher. There will then be two more drives followed by a warm, home made, sit down lunch in the shoot room, chosen prior to the day by the team of guns. After lunch there will be two more drives before tea and cake to round off an extremely enjoyable day. If you wish The Lion in Leintwardine, 15 minutes from Great Hagley, is a lovely pub to go and have a drink later in the day.
