The AR Shoot syndicate are privileged to have the exclusive sporting rights to the Acton Estate and surrounding area totalling some 5,000 acres with over 30 different drives used through the season. As a private members-only syndicate we offer a friendly and relaxed day with quality shooting. Based just north of Shrewsbury in Shropshire the AR syndicate has been operating for over 30 years and has continually invested and improved the shooting for the benefit of the syndicate members.
Shooting every Wednesday and Saturday from mid September to the end of January. We target 250 bird days shooting over 10 guns and last year our average daily bag was c.270 and being a syndiucate there are no overages.
We welcome new members and have a diverse membership of around 40 so there will always be a friendly welcome and good company on any day. Due to ill health retirement a couple of spare places have become available for new members wishing to join. Hospitality
As part of a shoot day there is tea and coffee and sausage and bacon sandwiches for breakfast. Drinks are served mid morning including our fine damson and sloe gins. A hot 2 course home cooked lunch is served in our fabulous shoot hut with a selection of red and white wine, cheese board (if you have room). No one has ever left a day at AR hungry! After the final drive the gun bus returns to the shoot hut where there is tea, or more wine if you prefer. We ask for £40 per person to cover the costs of the hospitality payable on the day
Birds
There are a range of drives and birds offering quality shooting for a range of abilities and providing great sport. We target 250 bird days through the season with the exception of the Duck only days which are +300, we have no overages and regularly achieve 5% to 10% overage thanks to our great keeper Craig and his team
Topography
The estate is a mixed estate in the rolling hills of Shropshire with several woods, ponds and hillsides to offer a variety of shooting as the season progresses. This also ensures that we can consistently deliver excellent shooting throughout the season
Conservation Efforts
The estate has continued to improve the landscape which has benefited the shoot with the planting of a number of woodland areas and wild bird mixed margins.
About the hosts
As a not for profit undertaking the syndicate is managed by its members for the benefit of its members supported by 2 full time keepers and great beating and pciking up teams. This allows for quality shooting at excellent value and you are also assured of a warm welcome especially for guests and newer syndicate members. We welcome guns with dogs and our picking up team are always happy to offer advice, whether its needed or not! We always want to encourage guns to bring younger members of the family and have many father and son/daughter syndicate members. We understand it can be intimidating coming to a new shoot so we will ensure that someone will be there to welcome you to one of the best kept secrets in Shropshire!
Travel information
Located approximately 8 miles north of Shrewsbury just off the A49. We are approximately 60 minutes from Birmingham and 80 minutes from Manchester
Final thoughts
The Acton estate has been in the Corbett family since the early 13th century. The AR syndicate continues to work closely with the estate and other land owners on opportunities to further improve the shooting for the benefit of its members and ensure that the it is managed sustainably for the benefit of future generations

I have been a member of the shoot for the past two years, having previously been a guest on several occasions. It is a brilliant shoot. Extremely well curated by an excellent keeper with picturesque drives and very good quality birds in varied landscapes. The syndicate members are great fun and are all very welcoming. It is the perfect combination of the professional, quality shoot one expects and the homely feel of the shoot you grew up on. It is very good value for money.

AR is a fantastic shoot - it manages the fine balance of delivering a proper day with a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. The keeper and shoot captain work well together, and the dog teams are very respectful yet ensure nothing is left. The topography and unique situation (shooting on one drive in a disused walled garden, for example) ensure that you will not forget your day as, indeed, more significantly, the quality of the birds delivered to you are exceptional.

A truly excellent syndicate day with a great atmosphere throughout. The drives were well presented with a good variety and plenty of sporting birds, making for some very enjoyable shooting. The organisation was seamless, and it was clear how much effort had gone into planning the day. It was especially enjoyable to share the day with the syndicate members; the camaraderie and friendly spirit really made it something special. Hospitality was spot on, and everything ran smoothly from start to finish. A five-star day all round, and one to be remembered!
