Bowhill is situated in the Scottish borders and is the principal home of the Buccleuch family. The shoot is sited in 10,000 hectares of stunning countryside with mixture of hill, farmland, forestry and mature woodland. Bowhill also supports the rivers Yarrow and Ettrick, two of the main leader rivers to the famous Salmon River the Tweed. These rivers are responsible over the ages for creating steep sided hills that offer famous drives such as Black Andrew, Whitefield, Kershope and many new drives that will be put into action this coming season.
Hospitality
All the hospitality that one would expect on a premier shoot. Meet and greet either at the shoot lodge or being led from the hotel to the lodge should guns require. Gun hire, loaders, car hire and a mule to get to the peg can be arranged if required.
Topography
Bowhill has some wonderful topography - steep sided hills with bracken and heather, hanging woods and gorse patches that offer the shooter high testing pheasants and partridges in a dramatic back drop. The footing is good, gun stands are mostly on flat areas below the moorland edge or in fields below woodland and game crop. The hills, and their respective gullies, provide the altitude, as well as the dramatic scenery that makes the estate so special. Conservation Efforts
The Estate and Shoot are currently working with the Tweed forum and the Black Grouse and Upland Restoration Project. We plan to increase our conservation work when we are settled in.

Although I have never shot at Bowhill myself, I do know Caleb - the new incumbent - and can say with absolute confidence that this’ll be one to keep an eye on over the coming years. Knowing Caleb’s experience and previous successes I am sure Bowhill will be worth several visits this season!
