We offer high quality mixed species days for adventurous teams prepared to tackle the deep valleys and high hill tops of the glorious and unspoiled Radnorshire countryside. The shoot dates back over 150 years on the family estate and has always been managed for upland and lowland game birds with the emphasis on quality sport, environmental sustainability and local community.
Hospitality
Freshly prepared food and drink, enjoying the fruits of local Herefordshire and Radnorshire producers and growers.
Topography
The moorland hilltops climb over 1,800 feet providing stunning scenery with views across both sides of the Herefordshire / Powys border overlooking four English counties and three old Welsh counties, while the deep valleys provide vertiginous gorges, brooks and streams running through deep deciduous woodlands.
Conservation Efforts
The estate and keepering teams are driven first and foremost by conservation of its dwarf shrub habitat, which is a rarity in Wales. The hill ground is about the most southerly in Britain where you'll find a healthy breeding population of grouse and curlew. The estate runs conservation programmes for red listed ground nesting species, it protects and rewets the wetter heath and peatland areas, and it works to protect and expand the indigenous tree habitats.
About the hosts
The host family and keepering team strive to deliver quality over quantity. Relaxed and friendly in a professional atmosphere to provide teams with a memorable upland experience in the Marches.
