Pheasant
Partridge

Eynsham Park Shoot is situated on the edge of the Cotswolds, covering over 3000 acres of gently rolling Oxfordshire countryside.

There are partridge days available from early September and then mixed days available late October and through until the end of January, usually bags between 150 and 200 head/day. Early days are mainly Partridge days shot over hedges on arable ground, and later days including woodland and parkland shooting.

We usually stand 8 guns, but can accommodate up to 10 guns on request.

Loaders can be arranged if required and, with prior notice, guns and cartridges can be arranged.

Reception coffee and mid-morning elevenses are provided.

The day starts with reception coffee at the Estate Office - off Cuckoo Lane, OX29 6PR - and cars park in the adjoining car park.

We aim to be ready to leave at 0930 for the first drive. We usually shoot through, with a stop for elevenses after the 3rd drive. We then reconvene back to the car park to count the game.

2026/2027 DATES AVAILABLE

Hospitality

Reception coffee and mid-morning elevenses are provided.

There are various options for lunch after the shooting has concluded which can include bespoke arrangements on site or a pub lunch at the Royal Oak in Ramsden (5 miles away) or possibly some fine dining options at Estelle Manor.

Lunch is a separate charge - but the Estate will make a contribution of £300 towards the lunch arrangements.

Birds

We start our season shooting partridges from cover crops over high hedges and open fields, as the season progresses moving into the woodlands and rolling parklands for pheasants/mixed days.

Topography

Gently rolling edge of the Cotswolds parkland. Shooting Partridge over traditional hedges.

Conservation Efforts

The estate is very concerned with wildlife conservation. Every year English partridge are released and we are seeing a growing number of wild broods hatched on the ground. We have a policy of maintaining thick hedges where practical and leaving a wide margin uncut beside the hedges for ground nesting birds and bumblebees. The farm plants pollinator and wild bird seed mixes to fit in with the farm planting rotation.

About the hosts

Michael Mason is now running the Eynsham Park Shoot - together with his head keeper Richard Drake - and they are very keen to offer our guns the best experience Eynsham Park can offer.

I shot here as a guest for the first time in November 2019, having previously heard very favourable reports. The day was thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish, the Head Keeper Richard runs a very slick operation, we enjoyed a varied selection of excellent drives, birds flew well particularly in lieu of the still conditions, picking up team were helpful and efficient and I greatly look forward to returning.

I have shot here on two occasions and both visits have exceeded my expectations. Richard is very welcoming and runs a superb shoot. All drives well organised across beautiful Oxfordshire parkland. Great lunch in the mason arms afterwards. I cannot recommend this highly enough and I look forward to returning.

What a great day! A clear shoot briefing - wonderful variety - comprehensive elevenses - no 'commercial nonsense' of overage uncertainty or inability to have enough birds put over - great lunch and all calmly delivered by a friendly keeper and welcoming beaters & pickers-up. An exceptionally well run 'family estate shoot' that lets out some days, we were lucky enough to be able to book two of the let days in 2019. Richard and the team provide a good variety of drives across the estate which stops you sitting on 3-4 mammoth drives to fill the bag. In one day you are in glorious old English parkland with birds soaring high over 200 year old oak trees, then you can be deep in the woods snap shooting and testing your marksmanship before being treated to partridges bursting over hedges and banks. Loved it all. There are many independent drives and Richard knows how to flex between them if weather changes or the unexpected happens, done without any stress. Guns are well spaced on each drive to ensure no crowding and the beaters are coordinated quietly and minutely to give gradual flushes. Elevenses is in the field (best bouillon and sherry bullshot I have come across) with plenty of time for guns to chat and relax. Lunch is in a great pub and generously provided for within the day's budget. I will be asking to come back again and again.

A lovely location and impressive grounds. Unfortunately, at the time, the birds were in poor condition with a few theories touted as to why (weather affecting natural food availability etc.). The clay soil in the fields also tried to suck the boots off our feet! The gamekeeper, Richard, did a great job under the circumstances; as he had to organise the beaters, host us and deliver elevenses - he deserves credit. A few more staff wouldn't go amiss, and a few drives in more wooded areas too (each was in the middle of a field so you had eyes on your bird for a long time before it got within range, if it did). Lunch in the main house would have a been a great touch, but we were left to organise & pay for our own post-shoot lunch in a nearby pub - The Masons Arms - which was a perfectly nice place.

There is a very good reason why there are no reviews for the Eynsham shoot and I almost feel disloyal to all other guns that have shot there by saying this. It is wonderful. It’s occasional spare days that are let are whispered about cautiously lest anyone not in the know, know. Richard and the team really do put on a great day and I am forever thankful for having found this quintessential English shoot.
