Trent Lane Syndicate is a small, friendly, none profitable mid week Driven farm shoot, established in 2007, and has moved forward year on year.We shoot Pheasant and partridge, with French partridge being our main interest, although there is 50/50  Pheasant and Partridge, release program. There is a High Level Stewardship in place on the farm to encourage English(Greys) Partridge, in which we are succeeding. There is a very good wild Duck (Mallard/Widgeon/Teal) and Goose (Greylags/Canada) shooting on three flight ponds, a private Lake and 2.5 mile of River bank (Trent/Fleet).The main shoot is set in the Trent valley (Newark On Trent) area, we shoot over a large number of Various varieties of Cover crops to encourage and keep both Pheasant and Partridge, over twenty acres of Cover is drilled each year, we are experimenting on biannual crops to cut down on ever increasing costs (Canary Grass, Chicory, Sweet Clover, Kale etc.) Not only does it cut down on cost, it also provides good brood rearing habitat, as the cover stands all year round, and provides food, in the form of insects and seed etc. The Shoot Covers over 2500 acres in total, we can expect the bag to be around the one hundred mark, but this is not are aim, our aim is to have a pleasant day with like minded people. We start the day by having Breakfast at our Local traditional Pub, here we draw our pegs, (Ten standing Guns) and move to our first drive for around 10.00 am, 7/8 drives in a days Shooting. There will be ten days Shooting in a season.

Mr. Alan Jones

Last shoot today and what a memorable day it was. The best shot taken "Shot of the day" was a fine high flying partridge (shot by John) and a very good retrieved by his great dog "Dixie" who did well all day. WELL DONE. Guns all pleasant and I now know how many "Guns" it takes to change a land rover punctured wheel..8.....2 doing the graft and 6 stood-by in an advisory capacity..great memory that...Still don't know who shot that goose..But eh!!! Plenty follow the Trent and you cannot go wrong here....all in all a great shoot and well worth membership...cheap for the price too....Well done Gary and Tom..Star men...

After waiting all year.We had our first day at pheasant yesterday. On all the drives the birds flew strong and well, thanks to Gary and Tom who together used their knowledge ,and the birds did their part too....using the Trent Valley wind as they always do just Iike we were told,They were plentyfull ...both pheasant and partridge and were well presented. With a good bag at the end of an enjoyable day too...Oh! and who did shoot the goose??..Truly a day for Stephen and me to remember

Mr. Mike Bartlett

I joined this syndicate last year and last season was my first full season. I have just joined again as i enjoyed it so much last year! It's a 2 hour drive for me door to door so that says it all really! The birds presented are strong and challenging and there is a good variety of quarry. Everyone is friendly and you are welcomed by all. The beaters and guns mix really well and drinks are taken after the first two drives with warming tipples all included in the day. The terrain is flat but the wind usually blows and the birds really do use it well but even when it doesn't the partridges are quick and the pheasants fly high. If you want a great day out with challenging sport, good banter and great company then look no further!

Mr David Oliver

I joined the syndicate 2 years ago after a search for a shoot nearer to my home. I saw an advert placed on GOP and after speaking to the captain and a visit to the shoot duly joined. I have nothing but praise for this shoot run by an enthusiastic ,knowledgeable and helpful team, ably backed up by a dedicated team of beaters and pickers up. The shoot is relativelly new and is developing all the time. The birds offer a challenging and diverse test of a guns skill, shot around the River Trent as a backdrop. A lot of the birds are wild, interspersed with birds bought and reared and are very strong fliers as a result. Once the wind gets up as it often does here, the Partridge and Pheasant certainly know how to use it to great effect making for a great days sport. I look forward to this coming September when it all starts again.
