Partridge and Pheasant shooting in Northumberland - The Hawick and Blackhalls Shoot forms part of Lord Devonport’s Ray Estate in Mid Northumberland.
The shoot is primarily a syndicate run by Russell and long standing members.Some of the members have been shooting together for over 25 years, leaving our previous shoot in 2000 we are now well established on the Ray Estate. Due to the size and layout of the estate we are also in a position to offer a variety of days to let.
The shoot provides driven pheasant, partridge and duck on over 4,000 acres of beautiful Northumberland countryside. We have introduced new partridge and pheasant drives for 2017/18 season.
We are situated off the A696 at Knowesgate, North of Kirkwhelpington and within 35 minutes of Newcastle upon Tyne ,There are also a number public houses bed and breakfast accommodations and other luxury country house hotels within 20-30 mins away.

Found this lovely shoot at the very last minute. Russell (Keeper) was very welcoming as was the whole team. There were plenty of birds presented with targets for all abilities. Can't wait to go back

A single gun. Invited by Russell (the keeper) to complete a team, and only my second fully driven day. A professional job done by ALL the team in the presentation of good sporting birds, as well as the day as a whole. I bumped into old acquaintances and met new. Indeed a very friendly atmosphere. Overall an extremely enjoyable day. I am looking forward to a return.

This was a shirtsleeves September day on Partridge. The ground is very attractive and well maintained with rides cut to pegs, although there was a bit of walking involved in a couple of the drives. Russell and his team run this shoot very well. There were plenty of birds although the lack of wind, and the early date, meant they didn't all fly as high as one might want. Nevertheless there were more than enough good birds to give all the guns an excellent day. The hospitality is very good, everyone was very welcoming and the day was a great success. Tremendous value and highly recommended.

Just to make it clear I am NOT related to these guys, you will see I posted recently ! At the last minute 2 guns pulled out of the day and Russell contacted me to see if I could fill them. Edwin Howson, John Whitfield and I went up the night before and shared 2 pegs between us......and wow what a stonking day....some of the fastest best partridge you could wish to see...we had some real fun and some great shooting took place. Edwin shot like a star and Terry Hansom was really in the mood...great to watch and a fabulous day......Russell and his team were brilliant and even Russell was pleased with himself ....try it out ...this is a great shoot and I am pleased to say I am taking a party of 8 to shoot pheasant in December.

This is a great shoot. Have been going for the last 8 years at least once a year. Great birds, lovely area of UK brilliant hospitality, Russell and Terry know their business and put on a very enjoyable day ..partridge and pheasant are really good shooting and duck can be arranged in the evening if wanted,. Try it and you will go back ...8 of us are booked in for December again.
