We are a 400 acre cattle farm based between Northallerton and Darlington in North Yorkshire. The farm provides the perfect opportunity for shooting enthusiasts to come and decoy pigeons all year round.
We offer DIY decoying days and can supply a pigeon magnet and a number of decoys for the day. We will also set up a hide in the most suitable location ready for your arrival. You are welcome to move to alternative locations on the farm during the day.
As well as pigeons we are also inundated with crows and jackdaws around the farm yard who take advantage of the cattle feed. A hide near the yard would also be an option.
We have recently drilled our barley and therefore week commencing 8th April would be the perfect time to decoy pigeons. We will also drill maize later in the year and harvest it in September which will provide very good opportunities to maximise bags.
Hospitality
A bacon butty and cup of tea/coffee on arrival.
Topography
The farm is a mixture of arable and grassland with approximately 5 woods and a pond. We are part of the mid tier countryside stewardship scheme and therefore will be planting winter bird feed this spring. We also have 6 metres margins in places to improve the habitat for wildlife.
About the hosts
Dan moved back to the family farm in 2015 having spent 10 years in London. Dan is passionate about the countryside and has always enjoyed country sports. He is keen to improve the habitat for wildlife on the farm which is why we are now part of the mid tier countryside stewardship scheme.
