Place Newton

Place Newton is situated on the northern edge of the Yorkshire Wolds close to the village of Wintringham. The estate is set in a stunningly beautiful area with extensive views in all directions. The shoot is easily accessible from the A64 which runs from the A1 North or South to Scarborough. There are a wide variety of quality Hotels in the area to choose from if you are wishing to stay over. The main mecca for shooting in the area is Helmsley which is about 35 minutes away.

The estate is 7000 acres of rolling countryside with many interesting features, none more so than the glacial deposits along the southern escarpment of the estate, these mounds are quite amazing. There are good roads right across the shoot and to almost all the drives, which makes accessibility for guns no problem.

Season 2012/2013 see's a new head game keeper with new ideas and several new drives which will compliment and enhance the classical drives which have been shot on the estate for decades.  

The drives are mostly in the open offering views of the countryside which can extend for miles, in places. They are set out to shoot eight guns comfortably but can accommodate nine if necessary.

We are able to offer top quality sport, shooting Partridge from early September, mixed with Pheasant in October and Pheasant plus some Partridge for the rest of the season, making Place Newton an ideal choice for a back to back with any of the other fine shoots in this part of North Yorkshire.

The days are hosted from your hotel straight to the first drive or from the shoot room at Place Newton where coffee can be served before departing to the first drive, lunch is supplied at the shoot room and afternoon tea if it is required.
