Shrubhill Shoot

Shrubhill shoot is a well established, fully indepentdant keepered shoot covering 2500 acres. Situated in the edge of the fens in Norfolk it is 20 minutes from Newmarket and less than 1 hour from Cambridge. We have a Saturday syndicate, and offer one off driven duck days. Our syndicate was established in 1993. All of our syndicate shooting is driven, and runs from October through to January. Benefits to the shoot location is that there are no public roads on the farm where it is situated, but many of the local villages have accomodation available to anyone who wishes to avoid travelling to and from home on the day. The Crown Public House in Mundford or a Travelodge in Thetford to name a couple within 30 minutes of the shoot.

We offer relaxed, enjoyable driven days with an emphasis on safety to competant guns looking to shoot good quality birds and a mixed bag at a sensible price. The numbers of birds shot each day varies as we like to shoot quality birds; the season average is normally between 100-120 birds per day. All the birds on our shoot are hatched and reared by us from our own proven quality laying stock.

On the day we meet at the shooting lodge where teas, coffees and refreshments are available beforehand, at lunchtime and afterwards. This is where the pegs are drawn and a breifing on the day ahead is given, There is also a dining area where the shoot party including the beaters can congregate for lunch or to reflect on their days shooting, and toilet facilities. The hosts are father and son Graham and Darren Smith.

We have a private car park where cars can be left safely for the day and from where our good quality guns trailer will depart to transport you around the shoot. All necessary transport throughout the day is provided. The shoot layout is varied with a mixture of woods, shelter belts, game cover strips, arable crops, reservoirs, ponds and rough covers. The woods and shelter belts being laid out for shooting many years ago.

The beating team on syndicate days remains fairly the same so as to ensure a relaxed, enjoyable and friendly day where everyone is well acquainted. Reasonably trained dogs are also welcome with any syndicate member.

We thrive on shoot days that are successful both in the quantity but most importantly quality of the birds, but also that live up to the standards we expect when pleasing the indivuduals on the day. Therefore we look forward to welcoming new sensible members who can fit nicely into the syndicate and who can achieve the same enjoyment as the rest of the current members.
