A flight pond is located at the start of the drive that can hold plenty of ducks.

Mr. Colin Baldry

I was introduced to this Shoot last year by a friend who belongs to the club who run it and enjoyed it so much, returned with him again this year. It is very different to a formal driven day but great sport and incredibly good fun, so highly recommended. You meet in the car park at the end of the marsh at 09.00 and draw for your position. 1,2 and 3 on one side of the drive and 4,5 and 6 on the other. The single drive consists of a very long narrow wooded area flanked on each side by marsh. Each team of 3, positions themselves about 50 yards apart with a the middle gun in line with the beating line. The beaters then gently move up the drive, with the guns keeping pace. The first few shots are usually at a variety of duck which rise from a flight pond at the start of the wood, then the pheasants trickle out continuously each side of the wood as the line moves up. Each shot is different as birds flush in all directions and hit the wind. A team of pickers up follow each sides team of guns, diligently picking birds as they fall. The whole experience lasts about 2 hours, then once the bag is counted we all head off to the pub opposite for a pint and something to eat. Absolutely great fun and fantastic value for money provided by a very friendly group of people.
