This stunningly beautiful estate owned by Earl Cawdor, is the epitome of what brings the shooting fraternity to Scotland. Picturesque heather clad hills, moorland ravines and gulleys, are the backdrop of one of the finest high driven partridge shoots in Scotland. You will be very well looked after by Roddy Forbes and his team, Roddy has had 25 years of experience, he says that guns vsiting Cawdor expect a special sporting experience and he and his team do to try and ensure this happens.
Shooting at Cawdor can be summarised as a careful balance between technical excellence and the quest for perfection, allied to jovial good humour and and easy going atmosphere, in fact some of the finest men and their dogs visit Cawdor for a picking up holiday! There are a number of very varied drives, none easy, all testing as completely different terrines to master.
We supply all driven transport, beaters & loaders, who all depart from Drynachan Lodge in the morning, returning after the shoot, to place the birds caught around the large tree, for the all important count. A hot 2 course lunch is supplied on all day shoots and can be served in the Lodge or in one of our secluded picnic bothys.
You can choose to stay in (on an exclusive basis) this very comfortable shooting Lodge, down on the banks of the River Findhorn. Drynachan Lodge sleeps a minimum of 8 guns or up to 22 guests, and taken together with a 2 day shoot is a very memorable experience. Return to the Lodge after a day on the hills and enjoy a soak in one of the deep antique baths, sit by the fire to discuss the day's shoot over a malt or 2, followed by a delicious 3 course dinner cooked by our resident chef and served in the dining room surrounded by charcoal drawings from the distant past, finally have restful nights sleep dreaming of the next day's sport and the one that got away!

Mr. Julian wolfhagen
Stunningly beautiful location, delightful lodge, brilliant birds and a admirable “ground crew” (beaters, pickersup etc) headed by a master keeper in Roddie. One of the most complete and memorable shooting experiences I’ve been treated to.
