Valley Farm Shoot

Valley Farm shoot is a well run shoot that is located 30 mins from Lincoln, and only 15 minutes from the A1 at Grantham, there are many top quality hotels in the area.

The format of the days starts with coffee and tea on arrival where the shoot captain will brief the guns on the days procedings and after guns will draw their peg numbers.

The shoot usually has 6-8 drives 2 of which may-well be over the Valley. The farm shoots across 2 farms that are both ring fenced and offer some great shooting of both pheasant and partridge. The shoot provides a hot 2 course lunch served in the shooting lodge at mid day to fuel the guns for a few more drives in the afternoon.

Some of the Drives:

The Valley drive is a  steep-sided valley that is covered with limestone grassland, scrub and woodland. It is one of the finest sites for shooting in the county.  These see hundreds of soaring pheasnt cross most of the time succesfully to the otherside.  Their quality can often test the best of shots.

Belvoir Drive: This drive over looks the vale of Belvoir and presents some amazing partridge and pheasant.  The guns for this drive stand down the side of a grassy bank and look back on the vale.

Cottage:  This is a typical partridge drive where the birds fly over a huge hedge from a long wide block of maize, once they get to the hedge they step on their tails and curl with the often strong winds.  There are far more cartridges fired to birds in the bag bag ratio on this drive.
